what to do with this

Hi Matt going for the blasting route, got a mobile bloke that can take the paint off a can of redbull :) he's going to do it at my place then i'm going to etch prime it all straight away, top bottem in and out

Thanks for the update Terry. It's a really interesting project.

I like the way you focus on one component at a time and think it through to get it right both from a practical and visual aspect.

What are your plans for the roof ?

Well i hope so Rob ! i guess you cant designe a project like this just build as you go, plan is as you gathered is to do a dummy build first that requires modifications to the shell, then take it apart box and label it all up then when its time to build it again it'll be like a kit with no instructions  ;)

As for the roof i was given a nice skin from the bloke i bought the shell from, was speaking to a body shop the other day and he said when i put it on use some windscreen bond around the flat areas that are about 3 inches in from the spotweld seams as it will add strength to the roof area

Proggres has been slow due to its to effing cold so bought 2 of those diesel heaters brings the workshop up from 1 degree up to about 10 all for a fiver a day well worth it

next jobs was to make some mountings for the roll cage
i'll let the pics explain

Going on from Dans thread thought i had better check to see if the car was square so fitted it up with steel wings and bonnet and all was fine the the f/glass ones just needed a bit of heat moulding that was of course before i welded the cage in

found this front pannel in the store bought it from Gwyn a good few years ago new it would come in handy some time and picked up the ZG arches from Mike at MJP so thought it was time to play

was a bit worried about getting tyres for the 10 x 15 rims they had 245/40/15 avon cr500s on still in as new condition but too old for me so ordered 1 toyo 235/50/15 fits a treat its even wider than the avon as the rim is just protected by the tyre

Terry some of the modern poly adhesives are stronger than spot welds.
It boils down to the surface area of the joint/weld

2 rails spot welded every couple of inches can be pulled apart like pulling poppers off kids shirts.

If you bond the rails together the surface area of the joint is massive by comparison.

Worth doing imo.

No, the whole car would nearly be plastic if i done that ! besides the steel skin i have is very light

Nice one Craig, I was at the jaguar factory a year ago and they put the chassis rails buklhead the cast suspension turrets well the whole car with some kind if bonding agent and aluminium rivets

Looking good Tel. I know what you mean about the cold, I bet the cat is loving the heaters!
Those tyres are going to be orsom!

Are you going to rotate that tyre dependent on the circuit? I would recommend getting at least one more if you put it on the back though.
