I had a great time. It was so nice to meet the other folks and put faces/proper names to nicknames. Great cars too - I really enjoyed seeing them all. Shame we weren't wanted for long, but even the standing around and chatting was fun too (and dodging wasps!).
JC in person was perfectly pleasant. Very personable and willing to chat. I'm sure that not everyone who listens to what he says would take it as gospel - if they do, they haven't got the brain cells to be a Z/ZX owner anyway. If a few people just look at the cars and like the looks of them then that's good. I can understand people not wanting to be involved - if he was rude about my car I might feel the same (I guess I've been lucky in that regard) - but it was still free publicity!
My Z did me proud, although I have to admit she did sound rather "agricultural" on the way home. I couldn't tell if it was road/wind noise I hadn't noticed before or a newly-knackered gearbox or diff. I think a bit of paranoia might have set in after the thrashing she got! I was so worried about not missing a gear and looking a tit that I might have been a bit "enthusiastic" when changing gear. Hmmmmmm! Hopefully all OK and she sounded better when I got home than when I left the airfield. I droppped in on MJP to buy some gearbox/diff oil just in case though, and I think I'll be watching the "For Sale" section too! Thanks to everyone for saying nice things about her
I saw the blue/silver 280 outside as well. It didn't look too good, but if the restorer is good, then who knows. Fingers crossed.
So, Status, DJZ60, Neil, Johnboy, Geoff, Suzy, GIO, Mark and anyone else whose name I've forgotten: best wishes to all and I hope to see you again.
And GIO... I'll get ya next time ;-)))
