What did you do to your Z this week?

It was an eBay job and came from Lithuania of all places. The seller may have others ...

I too quite like that feature. I have it on my existing screen and it is surprising how much glare it takes out on a sunny day. Was tempted briefly by a heated one but not keen on the fine lines you can see nor lack of the blue shade at the top.

Not much this week after lots of fettling this time a week ago before the Sam meet at Donington. Mostly I've been congratulating the Z on her performance - her previous longest journey was about twenty miles so 135 miles each way without a hiccup was pretty good.
So, only two small jobs... a bit of sanding on the three-piece rear spoiler which despite being Marugen Shoukai wasn't a great fit, and also fitting a double USB socket to reduce the birds-nest of wires. More next week!

Strictly speaking; Haven't done it to my Z yet but quite an exciting thing found on the front lawn when I got home from work!!! Now I just need to find a free day and a friend to assist! Didn't really need one, but the old one is a little scratched with fine scratches and I figured while I'm replacing the rubber, I may as well put in a new screen too!

Any advice, best practice, anything else to do while the old one is out or links to articles on this job most gratefully received!

Happy to be an extra pair of hands when you do it

never done one before tho, so steep and potentially expensive learning curve my friend! ;)

Not that I will ever need a new screen but where did you get your top tint screen from I tried all ways to get a replacement for mine but could not find one so ended up buying a heated one with them horrible elements running through it.

Thanks dude!!! I really appreciate the offer and you may well live to regret it ;)

eBay sir. Been thinking about it for a while and just kept checking eBay every now and then until one came up.

At least when you want to clear your screen you don't have the pantomime the rest of us have!

I really want to find a new rear screen with a working heating matrix too but I just can't find one new! Has anyone found / sourced a new one of those?

So I messaged the seller earlier and this was his response ....

So if anyone is looking for a blue tint at the top, looks like here is a source. Just look for the seller on eBay (greddyn2o)

Should be paying less as they need us more than we need them as we import more than we export,if we stoped selling BMW s alone that would put one million Germans on the dole, should be cheaper for them windscreens in theory,my windscreen insurance is even cheaper,75 quid

effectively they can sell to us VAT/Tax free as an export? So we just have to pay duty/vat?

Tariffs \ duty could be as low as 4% increasing to double!e digits. Then somehow we need a system that will do the clearance and associated documentation. I can see companies making a killing on the latter at least in the short term due to excessive demand.

So it will cost more. Period.

We haven't factored how the good old £ may fare against other major currencies..

Yeah I'm interested in what the fitment is like but they look good

Yes, that makes two of us! I had the exact same thought! But only one way to find out ;)

I will start a thread on it when I get round to doing the job but I already know what will happen. The old one will come out, there will be unseen rust to deal with, maybe some previous owner bodges then other things I could now access more easily and it will become 3-4 jobs and take a month; half the fun of Z ownership.

As for Sterling post Brexit: I do a global strategic role in the financial services industry and I have yet to come across anyone that has convinced me with a solid position on what lady Sterling will do. Anyone ever seen the Bank of England fan charts? 'nuff said!

But if playing the FTSE then it's going to be a delicious feast of volatility for the next 2-3 years with oil, commodities, Brexit, Trumpgate, China economic data fantasies etc. Anyhoo I feel we are taking the thread way off topic!

If others want the screen (before or after I try to fit it) let's club together and see if Lukas is open to a group discount of sorts.

I've just enjoyed reading through this thread, some really interesting stuff going on for a lot of owners and some fantastic cars

I cleaned it, and parked it on a neighbours drive for a photo

Another red with black front spoiler, polished, photographed and driven today.

Seeing how people are posting some fantastic pictures of their cars being used and taken out and about have any of your considered sharing any of these and entering them for the club calendar next year?

We're keen to get as many entries as possible and its clear there is a very high standard of cars in the club that are being used. I'd love it if you could share pictures of your adventures when your out and about or stopped anywhere interesting :driving:

Link to the entries thread below for your ease of reference, would be great if you could get involved :D

I have helped my mate install a couple........

Research some: but I believe that the stainless molding needs to be installed in the rubber gasket before the complete unit with glass is installed into the windscreen frame.

Check to make sure and save yourself time. Careful pounding on the new glass with your hand as they will crack with moderate to heavy pressure. Ask me how I know. Rope is your friend.

Good luck.

Didn't realise how nice the weather was going to be today so went for a bit of a blast around, filled with juice etc. etc. Then I fitted my replacement heater console and radio blank so the entire centre all looks tidy for the first time since I've had the car. Following that came a fiddle with the steering column controls. Rather than the stalks being a 9 o'clock and 3 o'clock, mine were more like half past 9 and half past 3 or even a bit worse, and not well located for use. Cowl off, 6 fixing screws and a bit of jiggling and everything is now where it should be. Simple things can be so satisfying
