Green light for the Monte..! Tyres arrived. He was advised by the Norwegians and they delivered as well. The blame is the shipping comp.
We arrived at Reims at 14.30 hours. A large part of the cars were still in the Expo hall. Nice and warm. There I met the crew of car no 23. They all where dressed in red jackets with the large Datsun logo on their back. Very seventies, great!
I also met Jean-Marie, driver of car no 211 a very nice person.
On our way to Reims we already had some trouble with the ’90 Opel Senator. Great car for long distance.
After we stopped for petrol the car begun to run badly. Cleaned the distributor house, contacts were a bit rough and it seemed to be oke.
We enjoined Reims and were on our way to Vesoul, +300km. We never got there. The ‘pulsing’ became worse and we decided to home. Very disappointing of course.
We had sometimes no power at all The carbon stick (if there was one) was gone and all what was left was a little iron pin? Every several 50-100km I had to clean the contacts. Came home this morning at 06.00.
As we speak now. The guys had their first regularity on the Col de Turini!! Just when you have your 16th dip, you have to be awake and do the hairpins.
Won’t be long before the results are known. Finishing after 24 hours.
21 cars are already out off the rally, non of them are Datsun off course……
Toshimassa changed for a co driver, his name is Yoshihiro Kataoka. Seen of the photo.
