Santa Pod Saturday

You know I'll be there, rain or shine. Heard from Andy Isherwood today - he'll be there...

Cool quote Mr F

I like

"I don't believe I've seen you. 'Course there's lots o' cars on the road like yours, they all get to lookin' the same."

I was gonna go, but the weather put me off, so I'm gonna get to the workshop and get some work done on one of my cars.

Hardest part is deciding which one.

Four in attendance today - myself, Frank Marino, Jon Mason and Handel Williams.
Great food, fine coffee and scintillating conversation (well, one out of three ain't bad) whiled away the hours while the track dryers did their job.
Pole dancers raised the temperature at the end of the day...
And at 7-00pm (really - 7-00pm), they called it a day and made it an official rain-off. So close at times - we were up the front of the grid, most others gave up, but the four horsemen against the Apocalypse were gracious in defeat and are unable to gloat over the points scored in the absence of lesser contenders :(.

BTW one Horseman had to hold the camera...
...and no, I didn't get any pics of the pole dancers.
And the front Chrysler Neons thought they were going out on slicks! God knows what was hidden under their innocuous looking hoods...?

I'll try to find a rain-off replacement date, but it looks like it will have to be late October!

How do other competitors feel about awarding attendance points for today's loyal performance? or at least taking attendance today into account as a deciding factor in the event of any draw at the end of the season? Ten hours of doing nothing at Santa Pod must be worth something...?

And all credit to the staff and marshalls at Santa Pod - they worked tirelessly today to try and make a viable half hour of running. And...volunteered a signing-on refund at the end! Thanks to all!

Rain-off points - why not. I agree it's worth something.

What a miserable day. Rain, rain and more sodding rain.

I thought there were points for attendance anyway? Or is that just spectator points? I have to agree with Mike - a day at the Pod for damn-all should be worth something, especially when the lack of racers' points is a weather issue!

OK - decision time...just two points for attendance or the relevant accumulator points for attendance? Democracy in action...
Russ - will the auto points scoring software cope if I enter competitors with no time / reaction time results?

I agree!
If I had spent my hard earned cash in turning up, for them to not run the event, I would still say that the points should stand as normal!!!
Mark.

i agree, if i'd spent all day at the track and not even run then i'd expect to get something..... though as a side thought how would i work out the spot prize as A: i wasn't their cos my zeds screwed and B: i'm not sure i who would get said prize..... the only thing i could think of would be the person who spilt the least food down themselves in the cafe....... either that or mabey reaction time to the pole dancers..... hmm maybe not cos i wouldn't like it to go to a judges decision
