A.........build based on an ex-California 240Z integrated with a UK body shell and converted to RHD.


A shame not to share photos of the chassis number and of underneath.

I must admit I was intrigued by that part of the description
For that money I'm sure they could have sprung for real carbon switch panels instead of what looks like DI-NOC wrap.

Probably a good car.

'integrated with a UK body shell' suggests bulkhead swap to me and use of donor parts?

On the video that gearlever doesn't look like a 200Sx item to me, mine are quite different - thicker, shorter.

Sumpguard looks thin. It seems to have a tank guard unless that's an alloy tank - if it is it needs a guard.

Seems strange on a rally car to ditch the centre dash vents but keep the radio.

Front number plate looks awful and too small.

Aux driving lights look too modern and out of character with car.

Can't access Flickr photos. Would like to see more mechanical pics eg engine bay and exhaust.

Very similar spec to my blue car. Co-incidentally I removed my glove box last weekend to chase and simplify some wiring and thought seriously about mounting new fuses/tripmeter etc in there. I would try to do it so that I could still have the glove-box door to cover the 'gubbins' when not needing to see a tripmeter (may not be possible).

I wonder where the 50k has been spent?

The spec doesn't seem anything to write home about? I'd put £50 on you taking that to a specialist to get prepared properly would cost you ££££'s.

Even the pics show a corroded looking rear underside, might only be external components but it doesn't smell great for the effort thats gone into the rest of the car.

franky I tend to do any work myself but you take one of these cars to a professional and ask them to modify it and see where the money goes - labour.

So when trying to work out where the money has gone don't add up the cost of the car and parts.

How many hours have you spent on your car to get it to where you are now (still bare shell I think?). Then add the cost of painting, cost of car etc.

Then how much would someone pay you for it 'as is' ?

So when people say it would cost £xxx to reproduce that's what they mean not it's worth all that.

I know I'm teaching granny to suck eggs here.

I have receipts for the work on my blue car before I bought it so I know where the money can go.

I've re-read your post to try an understand your points.

So you think it requires more work because it's under-prepared and you can't see where the money already spent has gone?

Well it's had some shell strengthening, roll-hoop, harnesses and seats, good suspension (Bilstein) bigger rad, bigger engine, stronger gearbox, bigger diff and LSD, bigger wheels/tyres, 4 pot front brakes, underbody protection, upgraded electrics, navigator aids and we don't know the full spec. That's a decent start tbh.

I have no interest in the car but 'on the face of it' it seems ok but I've not seen it or driven it.

the sales spiel has me in stitches when it states

In 2014 the built cost for this was in excess of £50000 and if attempted today to the same exacting build quality and specification would be considerably more.

I do not really understand why it should cost considerable more as I believe the bulk of the cost would be man hours spent on prepping the car
If this is the case I wonder what makes a mechanic different to every other worker that would make the cost of their work so much more when wages have increased at a snails pace at best

The car is now on ebay and I can see more pics.

It has significant strengthening around the front 'turrets' which although it may be effective might infringe historic rules?

Looks decent to me so far.
