You wont be disappointed with their stopping ability:D
Thats very good to hear, thanks Steve! Buying a bit blind ie only from my american cousins recomendation, having never driven a car with the setup on, can be a little tense!

Hopefully I should get my hands on the calipers, struts and control arms soon, I can't wait!

I have created a gallery for you (called zeeman1972's project, let me know if you want it changed and/or description). You *should* be able to move any pics you want into there, but if you can't let me know.
Thanks Russ, I'll have a go a shifting them in a sec.

No words just pictures

I'll post some bigger pictures up in my gallery.

Steve
Nice bits of kit them
How do those coilovers bolt into the hub?
I thought they were cast as one as std
aka 240 anyway ?

Yeh nice to see some better photos than on Arizonas website, they look a lot stronger in your photos, will add them to the wish list :)

Looking forward to seeing them fitted!

Hi Wyn,

The silver threaded tubes at the bottom slide over the original cut down strut tubes and are then welded to the existing hub the coilovers are then screwed back in giving ride height adjustment independent of coil compression.

Well that’s what I have been told anyway

I think i'll get a metal fabrication place to do that welding Ahem! :)

The boxes just keep comming!

Rear arms and new diff mount now

Bigger pics will be in my gallery shortly

(Rob S, I didn't realise these arms where coming with bushes ???)

Only the calipers outstanding now!

D'oh, nevermind it was good practice. I'd be interested to know what dimensions Daves are though compared to mine.

Oh, and have you seen his new billet rear uprights and cross bar? Very nice and shiny, go one mate, you know you want to!!! ;)

Cheers,
Rob

I'll do a comparison between the bushes and let you know!

Believe me I'm very tempted to have a chat with him about that rear set up, I was going to have to do something to get past the finned cover I have for my diff and that looks ideal!

I was also going to have a moan about him changing the front control arms after I bought mine:rolleyes: :D :D

I do like that alloy moustache bar idea

Esp the way it looks like it’s possible to remove those end eyes?

Could have done with one of those the other week aswell :D
Any chance of a few more pics from diffo angles.

Those rear control arms are very nice but do they come with an adapter or a link rod to allow you to connect the rear anti-roll bar to them?

Tim

Hi Tim,

No they don't currently have mounting plates/links for an anti-roll bar. I was advised that I didn't need one for the setup I will be running so didn't really enquire more, too much of a trusting soul me!
Having looked at the arms close up I would see no hardship in fitting mounts at a later date if it was needed though.

Yes they do have a pick up point, check the red circle on the attached pic. That's a threaded hole, something like 7/16UNF - some annoying imperial measurement anyway. Dave @ ArizonaZ sells some links with a rod end bearing which is bolted though to this point and the other end attaches to the rollbar.

A typically well thought out solution.

Whether you run a anti-roll bar at the back al depends on what spring rates you're running. There seems to be an interesting division in the US between East and West coast. The East coasters like softer springs with heavier anti-roll bars, whereas the Westies like hard springs and skinny/no anti-roll bar. Both solutions seem to perform well, bit of a swings and roundabouts situation I think.

Cheers,
Rob

Darn Steve - did you just take the Arizona Z Car catalog and check "All of the above" on the order form? You are going to have one impressive S30 once you're done! I'm already green.

Not being a West Coaster or an East Coaster I tend to go the East Coast route on springs & sway bars. The softer springs will give a bit better ride and the sway bar will keep the car more upright in the corners. If you go to my album on www.cowtownzclub.org there are a few photos of my Z running at Texas Motor Speedway a couple years ago. It has the Nissan European spec springs, KYB gas struts, and the stock sway bars. The pictures show that the sway bars need to be upgraded some. I also am planning on moving up to the Tokico Illumina struts to give the car more flexibility between stree, strip & track.

Hi Bill,

Yes pretty much, I think I'm probably one of Dave's best customers at the moment! Currently looking at purchasing the new billet rear end upright kit to allow the finned diff cover to be mounted too.

Good to here from you, respond a bit more later gotta leave work now.

Cheers

You sexy BEAST :D That will look incredibly flash and sexy :D

Forgive the dim question but are the finned covers there to aid cooling ? Why not just install a diff oil cooler ? That was my plan but I would appreciate some guidance.

Hi Andrew........The finned covers are whats common on the R230 diffs alot of us here stateside and elsewhere are updating for our old S30 cars. Great selection of deep gears and very robust too. They are smooth and beefy. Not that the older R200's were junk or anything. But the LSD R230's are plentyful and are ready made for better axles etc.
Alot of parts and work, but worth it. Alas....one more step in the evolution to drive purists into a tizzy.
Cheers.........Vinny

The 280ZX finned diff cover is Nissan's oil cooler for the manual cars. On the 300ZX Z31 they coupled the finned cover with a differential oil cooler and pump for a "belt and braces" approach. The only differences between the 280ZX cover and the 300ZX one are the pick-up point for the oil pump and a threaded boss for the temperature sensor.
The Z31 pump circulation will only operate if two criteria are fulfilled:
1. The car is actually moving at greater than 6 mph.
2. Oil temperature is above 130 degrees C.
Two relays are required to couple the two criteria together.
