Le Mans Classic 2016 8, 9 + 10 July

Not sure where I'll be then but not my tel number - Friday night is drink-up and chat at the camping night !

Just a heads up for the UK guys travelling over, make sure you have all the requirements for travelling through France, a friend of mine went to the 24HRs and said the police were Red Hot pulling over UK cars, Breathalysing and checking for High Viz, Breathalysers, spare bulbs, fuses, Warning Triangle, headlight deflectors, car documents etc, Red hot may be an exaggeration but best to be safe than sorry.

Maybe I better start taking at least some of those items!

Haha :) I have always carried a bulb/fuse kit and breathalyser but never the other stuff, I haven't even used headlight deflectors, my reckoning was that I wouldn't be driving at night, however I've got all the stuff mentioned earlier this time, with the exception, as I've just found out a 2nd pair of driving glasses  :driving:

See you over the weekend

I'm leaving Les Sables D'lonne Thurs lunchtime so should arrive mid to late afternoon. Have some Rioja but no cork screw....

My reprobate friends are arriving Fri lunchtime / afternoon.

Looking forward to a great weekend with loads of Z's

I've got to say this is the whole reason I don't play golf. Stupid dress codes.

I can turn up in a designer polo shirt, jeans and trainers from Harvey Nicks or Selfridges etc, costing more than the golf club captains car is worth, however I'm not allowed in. Yet if I arrive in a shirt and pair of pants from Asda costing a fiver I am welcomed in - ridiculous.

Just my opinion, thanks.

It is clearly stated on the tickets and on the website Rob. I last went in 2010 so I guess things have changed since then.

I'm off to the fancy dress shop tomorrow to get a clowns outfit. I'll show 'em how to dress up for the occasion.

Don't worry about the dress code, it's not an issue honest.

Rob - please - I'm doing ALL I can to raise the tone of the club- the impression we give and lean the cars towards the classic side and you come along having been once and undo it the stitching - help me out rather - please.

The organisers have pushed hard for this, after Spa especially I want to present a good, clean image.

Well they shouldn't have - I have to wear shirts and trousers every day at work, so when I'm off it should be up to me what I wear, particularly when I am paying for something. I don't ever dress like a chav, never have never will, but a dress code would have made me reconsider even attending in the first place.

Don't be so outraged John:p - come as you wish, no-one has to respect the dress code or even my request to do so for the club and car's sake - you know - why both of us work hard at promoting an event in each country - it's why I won't have grubby-looking, half-finished cars on the stand.
Chill out at the campsite, smarten up for the stand and access to the paddocks - it's what I'll do anyway.

If you need to waddle around in flip-flops, tatty denim cut-off shorts and a vest t-shirt with a burger stain on it - feel free. some of us won't be - we'll be trying to be part of the whole classic scene.

Clear now.

Sean, I've been to the Classic twice not once and the dress code was just a distraction and not evident. I attend historic racing meetings for the cars and racing not the clothing.

If you want to go to a 'Classic' fashion show feel free.

Calm down, calm down!

It's not like the code is Black Tie or Morning Suits! Plenty of places won't let you wear shorts / t-shirts etc these days.

I think I can leave the string vest at home to see historic Porsches, Ferraris etc in action and up close.
