L28 race engine

HRC in louth, let a new build engine idle at 3000rpm till water temp is at 90deg, then leave it 15 mins, idle again till water temp is up. Then leave for 20mins. Idea being that the heat soak from the engine helps when its not running, letting heat transfer into the oil, after this its straight on a dyno upto its chosen rev limit.

.... of a Rebello engine - one from the mans' test bank and another from a rolling road.....not exactly the same.

Nooooooooooooo!!!! He said the R word!!!! :D

Thanks skids, was wondering about that. My neighbour was telling me how some cars (minis IIRC) mainly belonging to ladies used to have prematurely worn blocked because the choke knob, when pulled out, was in the ideal position to hang a hand bag!!!

Slightly at a tangent, I had a school friend whos dad owned a car dealership, an elderly lady came in to test drive a car, she spent the entire test drive in 3rd, (this was when cars only had 4 forward gears) when he suggested she change up, she replied "no need, I dont want to go that fast".

Usually on a fresh build, you are going to have to run in a cam as well, so that is 20 min at 2 -3 k revs.

Agreed
But thats in parallel with the other componants not sequentially so all in all you can succesfully run an engine in within hours (plus an oil change) rather than the old "1500 miles" with a sign on the back of the car saying "running in"

Yes and the owner in the passenger seat (our dear Sylvain) was having kittens !

The Skyline owner (Swiss) admitted that only a GTR can make him look good on the track...I beg to differ - the man's an ****.

''Using the diesel crankshaft and special block preparation this long rod combination is a real torque monster. With cylinder head work, cam and an induction/exhaust system, it produces 320+ HP / 300+ lbs torque. Add tripple carbs and get 365 HP / 300 lbs torque"
