Harrington Bumpers help wanted.

i found the rear bumper fitted fine but I had to drill new holes for the rubber inserts to prevent them being stretched too far where they overlap the centre section. The front bumper was a pinch at the sides but I had to use washers to hold it away from the wings. This has worked OK for the last couple of years. I guess being stainless, they could be ground back to re-profile them for a better fit.

I guess its not going to be to hard grind them down to make them fit.

Hows the shine, I was thinking if I got them I would chrome them as even mirror polished stainless doesn't look quite as shiny as chrome.

So I managed to get some pictures taken yesterday.

First I took pictures of my chrome bumper in place. I then removed it and placed the SS bumper on top. The result was quite surprising highlighting a completely different profile. I then installed the SS bumper and took pictures both above and below and even my ugly mug.

So no earth shattering conclusion other than they are different.

Mike
Well the bit that frightens me most of all is that ugly face
Surly with a face like that you should be able to scare the living daylights of the guys at Harringtons and would help to get it right inn future!!

have you heard back from them with an explanation about why they're not oem fit?

Also, is it possible your face could have warped them :)

I'd have a go at Burnsie fior calling you 'surly' - you look anxious if anything !

You have an email.

So thought I would do a quick update.

It would appear we aren't the only ones that have experienced problems with poor build quality. I'm fairly sure if I hunt around I would find more.

http://roverp5.proboards.com/thread/7774/group-harringtons-stainless-steel-bumpers

After considering my options I asked for a partial refund for the front bumper or for them to supply a new one.

The counter offer was that they didn't see fault on there part but are willing to remake a complete set of bumpers with a revised front measurement which I would give them for the discount price of £500. Oh and that Our club could take the spares into stock for someone else......

I am now considering what next. Its just a real shame that complaints haven't been mad in the past. This is a premium product and they need to get it right every time.

Its a real shame that they cant see they are damaging there reputation and product

Regards,

Michael

How much is a pair mike?

We should get them to make them to fit properly, they've admitted they don't fit properly.... Have you gone back to them pointing out 'fit for purpose' and/or distance selling regulations?

Yes, I reckon you've got a case of the goods not being 'fit for purpose' ... and a refund should be due.

They can't 'make' the actual pair they sent you fit better their end somehow (if you returned them at their expense) ...

These things ain't cheap. Why don't they understand they'd sell a lot more if the buggers actually were proven to FIT!
