Drag Challenge #5 Sep 2nd

The VW thing got added to the calendar after I'd set the dates. With the difficulty of finding suitable dates to fit around other events I'm afraid we'll have to lump it...
Be nice to them bugs!

Fancy a go, but no idea what to do. Got a 300 auto, is it any good trying in an auto. If the answer is yes can anybody give me some advice.[sensible please]:Z32:

I've done it in a Silvia auto.

It's ace and good fun, but you'll you'll probably lose about a second versus an equivalent manual car.

Hold the brake on the line, wait in drive, lights change, nail it. Job done.

Alternatively.

"N" on line, raise revs to about 4000, when lights change bang it into 1st, this get a bit of wheelspin, but the torque-converter kicks in and it can bog down abit.

I got better times overall with the 2nd option, but better reaction times with the first. Try both and see what suits.

Hitman

Fear not

There will be plenty of helpfull advice from all parties, Personally I can't help on the auto side but I can offer advice on the other issues (light sequences, staging, tyre pressures etc) so come along and enjoy the day......beats polishing chrome, but be warned its addictive....only those with the desire to get their pulse rate above 10 need apply.

there we go, there'll be plenty of people there that can give advice.

Whether it's good or bad only you can decide, as a lot of these things are down to personal preference.

And remember, there is no fear of embarrasment, we were all "Pod Virgins" once. I only popped my cherry this year, and that was in the auto silvia.

I'm looking forward to running a manual down there now, and next year I hope to get all my cars down there at some point so I have starting figures for all.

I will be there in my Diesel Deutsche Autobahn Shopping Bus ....... had some tinkering done so hoping to do ok.

It is in for service on the Monday, pity, could have done with it serviced BEFORE ragging the pants off it - hey ho - life is not always kind

Hitman - this is only my second time, felt like an arse on the start line in an automatic diesel but it is great fun, loads of coffee and burgers available and a damned good day out with the lads - well worth making the effort. I did not care whether I did well, I just went for the giggle ... it was well cool man innit

A little pre warning, my niece has expressed a wish to come along and watch her Uncle letch, ahem sorry I mean Steve:eek: .
She's very sweet and naive and 16 so behave....especially you Bannister.

Lamb to the slaughter or what!

Done some race preparation and competition lightening for the Diesel Autobahn Bus - hoovered it for improved internal aerodynamics, took the golf clubs out of the boot for improved power to weight ratio and got some V8 badges to see if I can trick it into believing it is a bit faster ........ Drag racing is a fine art :D
