I still want to express my views on the importance of keeping the S30s in great condition and that they merit proper restorations and not a weld-up every other MOT !
They ARE exotic, they ARE rare, they ARE going up in £ value (not the most umportant factor) and they ARE beginning to be appreciated by the general public or at least by some discerning owners prepared to pay well for very good examples.
I'm not saying that everyone must have their Z restored professionally, far from it, merely that the cars deserve more than some owners are prepared to do (do, not spend). Cars cannot be removed from said owners but said owners can be encouraged........
Whilst I applaud the DIY-er and there are a lot of talented people here, I can't welcome every 'restoration' and you know what I mean, most of us have seen some 'fully restored' cars in the past.
No, what I'd like to avoid is saluting the valiant loser (harsh words I know) but we've all read about valiant Capt. Scott in our Ladybird books who was beaten by Amundsen who planned a better route with better transportation - in short - planned and executed !
Yet we have always been brought up to hail the 'nearly winner' 'cos at least he tried !
Well guys, there aint many of our cars left to 'try' upon so get 'em right.......please.
