Great looking car
well done indeedy on buying it
there are a few Z owners in Ireland and they should be welcoming you with open arms to the fold
ops just noticed the car was bought in Ireland but you are in the UK

Wow, I've been watching that for a while. Almost tempted to buy it myself!

Congratulations and I wish you all the best with it.

It will be leaving the Emerald Isle and is en-route for the UK. Not sure how this car will be used yet, or if it is for storage and use for another day. But suffice to say, this car is like new out of the factory.

Thank you, it took a lot of consideration to buy this at the price, but its history is traceable and was rebuilt by someone who knew this stuff. Just got to convince the DVLA to give me the original UK plate.

Be a shame not to use it. These cars are for driving and can be driven every day. That was one of the things that originally drew me to them.

Ill be giving mine a dust off in a little while and taking it for a blast.

I think you may be right, sunny days only, but I would be so worried about tin worm. Not sure how much anti corrosion treatment was done when it was restored in the mid / late 90s. I will know more after a full check over next week. Nice to be back to Nisan after selling my R34 GTR back in 2006.

Nik,
Use mine every day, did 12,000 miles in 10 months. I did get it rustproofed. Cost £595. If you google a business called 'before n after', Chris Parkinson I think he is called. Worth considering. I had a TR6 for 30 years, did 3,000 miles in it, and it got written off by a tractor last year, hence not prepared keep the Z in the garage, and I haven't regretted it one day, it's fantastic as a daily driver. Sold by car so I have no choice! You only live once..........

I guess it comes down to miles. I do about 24k a year and use a BMW oil burner for that. I am lucky in that I can chose when to you my second car. Driving Norfolk coastal roads in the summer is fantastic.

My wife has had a Z for the last 18 months that came from Belfast and uses that as a daily driver to do 20 miles a day.

Nik

That is the one, but think it has been repainted again since he did the restore on it. It is now orange.

Hi Nik
I am in the middle of a rolling restoration.
I think all these old car will rust so might as well use it!
I am trying to eliminate all my rust.
I thought my was solid untill I started to remove wings etc.
I don't want to alarm you but some of the chasis rails are real water traps and seem to rust from the inside out.
I just keep finding more and more.
The good news is that I have an expert car restorer doing my car and I help out doing the donkey work to keep costs down.
It seems that almost anything can be mended though.

I don't seriously think you can rust proof these cars unless you really strip the panels off.
Save yer cash use it untill it starts to rot then get the right people to restore or restore it yourself.

Nice car by the way:thumbs:

Agreed, but the car was hardly used since it had a full california shell restore. I hope to find that the restore had comprehensive rust treatment in the box sections. From what I have found out, the restorer was very meticulous and I cannot believe this would have been missed. It has been in the showroom in Dublin for stout 5 yrs now so would have been out of the elements.

Hi, if you don't already have i the original reg it was *** **** and Steve spent nearly 5 years restoring it, It was stripped to component level during this restoration, down to every last nut and bolt being removed, cleaned and re plated, I know I helped him with a lot of the work and everything had to be right. PM me if you want more information

Hi stranger long time no see

Before Steve had it, it used to belong to a Richard Laines and remember him being on one of the early Z Club trips to Holland

That trip ended up with the group who went over getting split up on the way home as 4 of us Richard, me in my first 280zx Sean Dezart in his green 240 and Trevor Rainer in his black 280zx 2+2 Kaminari decided we wanted to see a bit more of Holland on the way to get the ferry Home

As per most adventures it went slightly wrong as we ventured into rural Holland and got absolutely lost

Long and short of it was managed to find the main road to the port with not much time to spare and me and Richard decided after a while that 120mph along the road and chancing amber lights was not for us as Sean and Trevor carried tanking on in the chance of catching the ferry

They missed it and as they pulled in the other people from the original group were standing at the back of the Ferry waving to them as it pulled away

Maybe god was good for Richard as when he got home he found something structural had snapped snapped under the car

Remember the first time Steve brought out after finishing restoring it at the extremely wet and Muddy JAE where a lot of the cars had to be towed of the field

Also did not Steve re shell the car with an American shell
