California Datsun - Al is the owner and he has a pretty bad reputation. Do a search on facebook and you will find lot said about him and his company. Having said this, I bought my silver car from him and it is the best car I've ever imported. That's why I'm keeping it.
Yes, I've read quite a few of those comments elsewhere too. But as you say, I've bought lots of bits from him and all good so far, so luck of the draw. It does seem obscene to be buying an engine from across an ocean though!
Rob and status - interesting that you managed to go that far and have a reliable car. Testament to the block being strong.
So, here's a question that I can't answer: I read somewhere that the Z has a special honing pattern of sorts - does that mean few machine shops can cope with it?
I'm not after mega BHP as I kind of like the character of the car but a little more never hurts, especially with going from dished to flat top pistons for the extra compression / torque and say a 1mm overbore.
Any thoughts on cams for a higher compression slightly raised displacement? Would it be advisable to go slightly longer duration to help breath better at top end? Someone once said 274 degree cams are good for a z but would that lose all that lovely low end torque given it's 254 stock?
Mr Farmer - glad you are happy with yours - it's a lovely car and now I bet she goes better too!
