Well, the full answer to that could get very long indeed, so I'll have to try and shorten it a little: The production 240ZG overfenders were a simplified item, and much easier ( cheaper ) to make than the 432 race option version ( which were quite complicated little things, made using 'roving' and in vacuum bags ). The homologation of the 240ZG showroom model allowed Nissan to use a proportionately wider overfender on their race cars, and they very soon homologated and phased in wider and fuller overfenders anyway. To be honest, I think the main purpose of the 240ZG homologation model was to legalise those aerodynamic front end parts, and the overfenders were almost used as a cosmetic add-on to make it more like a 'package'
In practice, what we all now call the "240ZG" overfender was never used in racing for very long at all, and the whole thing was more a case of conforming to paperwork. The works race cars only used the "240ZG" type front overfenders for a couple of races or so, and never used the rears. They always had something wider - which they were of course allowed to use because of the homologation - and then they moved on, going wider and deeper.

Are they the ones you mean? The 432 Sports Option items are quite distinctive in shape, detail and finish, so it is easy to spot the difference when you see them.
