ZClubs narrowest garage top-trumps

I recon I must have the narrowest garage in the club. I need to have the drivers window 1/3 of the way down just to get out. Its also on a slope so it needs to be running to get it in there... so far so good.

It keeps the rain off, but other than that it is useless. Can anyone trump that? Anyone else got a similar crap garage?

Like you said, it keeps the rain off the car which is good enough but I think I can speak for a good few members as well as myself when I say that there is no way I'd be able to get in or out of the car no matter how close to that wall on the left you put it!

I use cardboard boxes lent up against the walls (front and side), when they move I stop. I am going to get an old mirror and hand it on the top left wall at 45° which should make it a bit easier, but yes I need to watch my diet or it will be stuck in there.

I know it sound stupid but have you thought about making some sort of dollies that you put the car on
Doh just reread your post and noticed it is on a slope and you have to drive in

What about a winch that is similar to the ones on trailers

That's tight, was it once the home of a horse?

I've seen garages so narrow when in a block away from town houses.

I was thinking the same as Steve, a sled you could winch in.

Another idea for front distance checking is hang a cork or something from the roof so it just touches the windscreen when parked where you want. Then when you're in next and the cork touches windscreen you know how close you are. Also seen a few people screw about half a dozen layers of carpet to walls to allow safe nudging (also good to protect your door).

You seem to have it covered though, it's better than an open driveway :)

I had thought of a boat winch bolted to the floor, but it would need to be in the lean-to beyond the garage, am a bit worried about how heavy the car would be due to the slop. Also, being tighter than a gnats chuff, positioning the Z would be impossible. I have a piece of foam pipe lagging round the gas pipe (on the right), because guess where the door edge opens onto... yep you guessed it. If the car could move forward another inch, the door would open another 2 inches.

Eeeek and i thought my garage was small, i take it you cant knock down 1 wall and go wider then???

martin

I've some old kitchen units in front of mine with a work top & so I don't go too far & can't open cupboards or don't go far enough & have the door come down on the ariel I have a block of 3x2 on the floor with a paint mark round it in case it gets moved.

At least you use it as a garage ;) it looks abit tight though !!! there is a car in my garage somewhere but can't see it because of all of junk in there.

That is so tight it squeeks  But beats what I have ,,nuffin lol. We still gotta hook up for a drink sometime Ped,,drop me a line when you can !

Ped, after seeing that I'm going to have to stop complaining about mine!! And also brings home a few things others said about not even having a garage!

Yes, I must admit I should be grateful for any garage at all, and I do have a bit of a workshop beyond the garage in a lean-to which is a real winner.
