I have a z31. its a 2oozx with vg20et but iv just put a vg30et in it. now whats happening is its running for about 30 sec before somethings telling the fuel pump to shut off and have no idea wtf is causing it

There 2 plugs up by the battery 1 is where the injector module plugs into and 1 is a 4 pin plug which on mine is pluged into nothing. is something supposed to be plugged in here? if so what and got a pic of it

also would any1 happen to have any wiring diagrams?
your help is appreciated
cheers

are u sure its the fuel pump cause i had the same problem with my z31turbo and it was my mass air meter if you want to try that disconnect plug in meter and see if it idles if not test pump for pressure i have diagrams just not on the computer if you cant find any ill find a way to sendthem .the z31 is nothing but a headache when it comes to electrical problems

by mass air meter do you mean airflow metre? it has been a headach. have gotn profesional sparky to have a look at it now and they are just waiting for ecu pin out as the reckon airflow meter has no voltage going to it so they will trace it and see what happens. cheers

Hi there your problem is that you dont have a fuel pump control module which was fitted to the the early z31 turbo's and takes over the running of the pump after the initial start up sequence. Easiest option is to wire the pump seperately but if you have a smash you'll still be pumping fuel so I fitted a kill switch which isnt ideal but better than nothing.

I had the same problem after my turbo conversion using an earlier ECU, In the end I wired the fuel pump control lines that went to the ecu to an oil pressure switch. Like u said not ideal, but works. That way the pump still primes for 5 seconds and switches off and then runs when the engine is running.

so if i was to get a fuel pump control module and install it it will work? the thing i dont under stand is it was running with 2l motor and i did nothing to pump etc. might just have to hard wire the pump then. running out of options. in a crash it will only keep pumping if engines running right? so if engine cut out in crash so would the pump? cheers

If you fit a T piece and oil pressure switch and wire this to the earth line the ecu supplies to the pump I forget what ecu pin it is its on the relay behind the rear driver side panel on the B post. This method worked for me.
