Z31 rear suspension questions

I've recently been given some s14a Tein rear coilovers and for a giggle i fitted them to the z31 to see how high it makes it .... Its about 3 inchs to high atm ,

Now just because i can and they were free i was gonna see how easy it would be to fit them , I have one of two choices

First i can cut out a section on the bottom mount and weld on 3 inch extension to make it mount lower therefore making the car lower , But then the ground clearance will only be around 5 inchs at that point . And i dont know what kind of handling this will cause

Second i could try cutting the top mount of the back of the suspension and weldeding it higher . I have seen this done before but what kind of guage would you need , How much strength is needed there .

Anybody tried anything like this before ?

Yeah I know the s13 coilovers fit with little effort but if I'm honest I don't want to spend that sort of money on a car that cost me 400 , Plus they where free :)

Either of your suggestions could be done with some fabing and welding. Rewelding the mounts lower could cause clearance issues tho. I'd be interested to see what you come up with
