Z Club Drag Challenge 2010

Would like to get to one of these days again
Every spare day I get atm I need to crack on n get mine done
Maybe later in the year, who knows :)

Keep up the good work peeps

Hall of Fame update attached showing Valerio as a new entry due to his 350Z being significantly different from previous set-up (i.e NA to twin turbo).

This places him 48th over-all and 2nd in class.
Terminal speeds suggest this car is capable of beating Mike Feeney's super-charged car on the right day with better traction.

The Super mod class (7) is going to be a pretty hard class to take the top spot in. Are you worried about looseing your position Mike?

I'll be in super modified this year, i think grip is going to be my biggest enemy - getting 450-500 ft/lb of torque down from standstill is going to be very tricky. I know i'll be in the 13s but if i can get into the twelves i'm still not sure yet. Here's hoping!

ahaha I hope so, but it'll be hard as Mike is a much better 1/4 mile driver :p

From what I've heard even the newly imported 350Z purpose built drag car hasn't matched RatZ's best yet - but I fully expect that it will this season.
Seventeen years isn't a bad spell at the top...

Some one may beat Mike in class 6 but it’s going to take some fantastic commitment to beat his overall best time. I can not imagine how much works required to get below 8 ½ seconds what an achievement that is!!!!! Is there any one planning to or actually building such a car?

I predict that the car below will run better than 8.46 this year...interior shot may give you an idea of the level of equipment considered necessary to do the job! (...and also give a clue as to why not many Z Club members are building equivalent cars).

Is that a Euro or J-Spec interior on that car Mike?

Holy mother. Not much left of a 350 anywhere near that but we'll take it nonetheless!

Drag Challenge additional date!

With the publication of North Weald Drag Dates for 2010 and the September one being so close to our Round 5, I've added in 5th September and a Round 5a for those who can't make it to the Pod on a Saturday and bonus points for anyone who fancies doing both days.
Only problem with North Weald is that they may not do reaction times, so that aspect of points scoring may be void...

Round 2 Saturday

Never been to Santa Pod so where do you all meet and do I need anything other than me, my car and my zclub membership?

Normal gathering in lower part of pits just down from the cafe - park up where you can find a space!
Make sure you have your driving licence with you to sign on - no licence, no runs!
Helmet needed if the car will exceed 110 mph through the traps...
See you there - make sure you get the form from me to fill in your results!

im going to try and pop up, was thinking of taking the captains bardge down the strip but still running in.......oh well:unsure:

Results from Round 2 - several PBs and a couple of new entries! I'm missing one Z32 TT who must have gone early without handing in the results - please contact me so that I can update if you are reading this!!

A great day at the pod as usual. Managed to get 15 runs in which will hopefully help me with the Z, which should be back on the road this week(got it running yesterday, but with no oil pressure). Now sorted thanks to a tip from Paul(Grolls), thanks very much for the advice.

Well done Darren. Amazing time that was always on the cards.

Thanks to Mike for organizing it again and nice to see you get a few runs in(in 2 different cars).

Was hoping to get into the 13's but with no LSD, very old budget tyre's that have sat in a field for 2 years and a lack of experience meant it wasn't going to happen. Not bad for a £400 car though.

Sure was a nice day out, great to see Darren go so quick, however loss of traction and lots of wheel spin of the line probably cost .3....decent tyres warmed up will stand you in good stead.;) Just think, he was running the same time as the Nissan GTRs...... MMM shopping list to see Darren in to the 11's,

2 x sticky round things
1x cold air induction
1x salad instead of the big fat boy brekkie
a run on a cooler day
