Wiper / light switch

I seem to recall someone was recently looking for one, here's one on eBay

Ali have you actually looked at this item????
Virtually every wire on it has been cut.:(
And it sure wont fit a late 260Z with that plug configuration:rolleyes:

Its a bit like the rear number plate holder listed atm as 240Z/260Z.
Well its one or the other it cant fit both;)

To be honest, I didn't rally look at it too closely! All good points Pete.

But I did smile when I saw the number plate holder ;)

What exactly is the story regarding the light/wiper switch?
I read somewhere it contains a design error where the full lighting amp draw is pulled thru the stalk and as such causes alot of electrical gremlins and burned out fuses,
Anybody wanna tell me?

I can see its caused an issue in my car as there is a nicely melted hole in the circuit breaker panel and some bodged up wire-bypass into a separate bladed fuse along side it.

Either way, my racecar buddy will build me a new stripped out loom with only the needed items for MOT (and the big **** ICE install for them bangin choons, innit)

To call is a "design error" is a little unfair as it worked well for many years .... think of it more of a "missed oppourtunity to provide a high cyclic unit that lasts for over 40 years by over engineering and increasing the unit cost to an unacceptable level"

The fix here is to switch the load via relays....after reparing the switch unit which invariably degrades over the years

The burnt out "circuit breaker" (we call it a fuse) is as a result of a high load being drawn across an HR (high resistance) fault that develops due to oxidisation of the riveted bus bar arrangement on the fuse box.

The fix here is to use the MSA "blade" fuse box replacement...but they are not cheap
