Wing to h/lamp cowl Q?

When you bolt the front headlamp cowl to the wing should there be any sort of gasket or seal
Or should the two parts be a straight metal to metal (paint to paint) join ?
Would you use a sealent between the two parts to stop crub getting between them ?

I don't know exactly but my aftermarket ones came with a rubber seal.

when I stripped mine off the car there was a thin rubber gasket between them.
