What have I done?

Firstly a big hello to everyone on the site, right then I've just bought a 1972 240z after driving past it for two years and lusting after it. The last owner had it for 18 years and has changed everything on it and theres no signs of rust anywhere. The car needs a respray (any recommendations would be nice-midlands area) but is sound as far as structure is concerned. It's been bored out to 2.5 with a different cam fitted and a lightened flywheel, the engines been reconned 500 miles ago with receipts to prove. Some of the lights don't work and needs a new battary plus the seats need recovering (again recommendations please) all easy stuff, I've heard the car running and been through all the gears, it seems the car is a peach, theres a valuation cert with it for £8000 dated 2 years ago from the Z club, obviously before the paint went bad (parked under a tree for 2 years) the car also comes with a spare engine/gearbox,windscreen masses of small spares and loads of paperwork. I paid £2400 which I don't know is reasonable or not, it's a genuine uk car and as soon as I heard it running fell in love with it. My question is have I done the right thing? <img src="http://www.zclub.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/confused.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt='???'>

Sounds good to me. The lights should be easy enough to fix and you can buy re-upholstery kits for the seats.
Just depends on how much your going to spend on paint, are you going back to bare metal, will you remove all the trim/ glass etc (new front & rear screen rubbers approx £200).
If the car is as sound as you say and needs no panels or welding, I reckon even if you ended up spending 2.4k on it again inclusive of all labour and parts, you haven't gone too far wrong.
Good 240's go for at least £5k these days and usually more.

Yep needs no panels at all, the previous changed just about everything, the only filler is where he had the back arches reblended in after getting new ones welded on. I don't know much about paint so haven't a clue how much a good job will cost, willing to pay for a good one thoughas I've been after this car for at least 2 years.
