If anyone is near Hanwell at all, they got a beautiful blue 240Z sitting inside the main building..

damn.. I wish it was for sale.. it looks amazing..

supposedly it did have a for sale sign on it a few weeks back, but it's now just a demonstration (display) car.

lovely!

I heard they had one at their Shepperton branch a while ago... could be the same one as Shepperton is having a refurbishment.

Nice spot Rich... Someone must know more about the car... anyone

(As a besides, I spotted Gio in his Z this morning :p )

It belongs to one of the staff members at the Hanwell branch. Very nice guy. I sold some parts to him a few years back. He was a member of the Z Club at that time, I recall.

Car was a very nice example last time I saw it.

Can anyone take a sneaky picture of it, I wonder, so we can all have a butchers.

Sounds nice.

They always look better in a showroom, nice n clean dont you think, makes you want another.
Don.

The blue 240Z has been totally restored , and I mean totally restored. The car belongs to a director of west london Nissan and it is has had a no expense restoration job done. The car in question was displayed at Billing about 5 years ago and it was highly comended in the concours competition. I think there are pictures of it at Billing in a previous club mag.

The parts manager then went out and bought a 240 as well, which is now the RUTLAND EXpress:cool: . I am sure SKiddell will confirm who he bought his car from?

Cool, BTW Albrecht did you freeze your najjers off like I did at the Nismo Festival this year... haven't seen you mention it, but I thought you said you were going?

Hi veilside z,
Yes I did go.

Saturday ( set-up and practice ) was lovely and sunny. All the other NISMO Festivals that I've been to have had good weather for practice too, but two of them have turned a bit nasty on the Sunday. That's FISCO in December for you.........

Sunday ( as you know! ) started out quite nice, and then everything went tits-up around noon. I don't blame people for going home early - but we had to stay right to the bitter end as we had three race cars to load onto a transporter and all the gear that goes with them to take home to Nagano. The journey home was 'interesting' in the snow.

Don't know if you made it down to the very far end of the pits - but we were in 45 & 46 I think. The red and white NISMO LY-engined 240ZR was in 47 ( the very end occupied pit ) and 'our' cars were the white & blue KPGC10 Skyline GT-R no.15 and the green, black and white 240ZR replica running with no.3 on it.

I was tipping slush out of the brim of my hat when we were lining up the GT-R on the grid for the final demo laps, and a pair of wellies would have been handy. Still had a great time though, and wouldn't have missed it for the world. Just the Saturday would have been worth the effort on its own.

Here's a pic of us waiting for the off on the final grid. That's me on the right - frozen upright..........:)

I'm confused now........

There was only one blue one when I went there a few times. There was another one that was owned by one of the other guys at the Hanwell branch ( another really nice guy ) but as far as I remember, that one was red.

Were there three cars altogether?

Cool - Thanks Albrecht...

I was there with Fuggles from GTROC, DCD, Demon Dave, Hyrev, etc. so it was a bit of a GT-R vs. Z fest for them, although the pure numbers of 350Zs there obviously made my day.

We packed so much in to a five day visit, from Omori Factory, through to Autobacs, we were fortunate enough to have Shin from Prospec/Zele as our guide and also some of the Top Secret guys who were arranging cars for Tokyo Drift (the new Fast & Furious film)

A truly amazing visit... I did spot your cars down at the end, with the Hasemi cars too (did the windscreen wipers ever work) ;)

I saw Dino on the Sunday morning and said hello. He came down to the end of the pit lane and was taking photos from the pit wall.

Yes! The green and white KPGC10 in pit 44 did have windscreen wiper trouble on the Sunday. I think it was getting so wet that it was blowing fuses. We didn't have any trouble with 'our' GT-R all weekend ( amazing really, as it was its debut run after a 20-year lay up and a full restoration ), but the 240ZR rep ate a couple of gears early on Sunday afternoon and we didn't have a spare transmission with us.

Glad to hear you took in some other visits on the trip. Big advantage to have Shin looking after you too I would have thought. :)

Cheers,
Alan T.

I will check my reg document, the gentleman I bought mine off certainly was well connected at the aforementioned Nissan dealership as I remember conversations regarding this (its on my rear numberplate) His first name was Saujay (real nice chap).
Prior to him owning it it was the subject of a 5 year restoration and was at Billing in about 98

Sorry Rich, for taking this off topic (you understand, mate)

Albrecht - truly amazing event... I'm definitely back there again (just have to persuade the wife) - Shin and the GTROC guys were superb

Just a shame that the Tuner Battle ended up as skid pan practise, but it was good to meet up with Miki, Nomuken, Daijiro et al from D1 again

Roll on the UK summer, that's what I say :D

At the Hanwell branch, I only know about the blue 240's, no idea about the red one:confused: [ However, both Hanwell and Shepperton are under the same ownership]. The director's car underwent a full body resto that was carried with no expense spared. I believe they still have the car on their premises,

The parts manager then went out and bought a 240 {TLK} as well, in blue.

Skidy, as for the guy being humble, well he was quoted at Billing as proclaiming that he had prepared the car:rolleyes: , whilst we all knew that he had bought the car already restored and from a club member.

That's strange, as I well remember visiting the Hanwell branch a few times and seeing the car in a hundred parts, then half assembled, and then finally running. There's absolutely no doubt in my mind that they did a lot of work to the car. He never bought it 'ready made'.

He had a few dramas with the engine in particular; He had the head skimmed and ported by a local tuning specialist, and they ported it a little too far. He assembled the head without knowing that it was porous inside a couple of inlet ports, and the car was steaming heavily from the exhaust. He had to have the head off again......

Came across as totally genuine and 100% honest to me.
