Hi,

Thought I'd better start off loading jobettes to people who are able to help, that way we'll get things done faster.

First up is for someone who is at least quite good with Macromedia Flash. Notice the adverts in the top right? Well I have some of these to do and little time, they are pretty basic but I get sent a bit of text, some images, and then I have to invent them so a small amount of imagination is also required.

Much as I appreciate the offer, I'd only like those who already know how to use flash to apply, you probably use it in your job or something.

Should only come to about an hours work a fortnight, but at the start it maybe a bit busier.

I can do the liasing to get photos and text etc, and help ok things if you want.

Russ if it's anything else just shout, i havent used flash for a while and I am a little rusty.

Why? The club makes money on its subscriptions? I don't see why a couple of quid here and there will hurt them?

Mark , I dont know exactly how the club works financially but I assure any profit they make (very very doubtful) goes straight back into the club itself.

I'm making a guess here, but I would assume that everyone, without exception works for and on behalf of the club (and forum) for no monetary gain wotsoever.

It's all about helping each other out and all that, there aint no money in the coffers and prob never will be!......someone else would be better explaining the exact details of its/our finances as I dont do anything for the club apart from ask lots of questions about the cars themselves!.....I would if I could, or if they needed me, but they dont and as a self employed stress head who earns below the breadline, its not time to offer my services just yet.

Si is correct everyone works for free and for the benifit of the club, no such things as spare cash!

Jees you want paying for everything! You'll get a sense of satisfaction, and if your lucky a flashy trophy for your efforts. You'll get the idea one day :)

I agree with you totally

think I will invoice the club for my time doing things for it over the past 15 odd years
think I will also ask for payment for all the phone calls I have made
might even ask for reimbusment of cost of stamps, envolopes, paper petrol expenses for club business part of the maintance costs on the car, use of part of my house as an office and much much more

think I will now ask the rest of the committee and any ex committee members for thier expenses to cover for what they have due

oh by the way feel the need for another membership fee rise to cover the costs maybe in access of £100 may cover it

no one gets diddly in the way of payment from the club for thier time and 99% of the time no one even claims the monies they have paid out in helping to run the club

suprising your not suggesting you get paid for each post you make :mad:

Glad you posted that Mr Burns,,I would have been looking at a ban for what I was gonna post ,,,:D It seems that there are some who just don't get the idea of "giving of your time to benefit others".

BTW Russ, I can't really help you with flash etc . (rank beginner) :eek: If you ever need any help with fibre optic linking issues, switching problems, UTP 10 base 100 networking systems, or wireless,or routers and how to route em,,,,,jus give walls a call! :D :D
P.S. I will be able to help this spring when I graduate from my latest course!

Wow you're like a bunch of kids!

How about you supportingly advise people, rather than screaming that you all do things for free... whooooppp de doooo! You have free time, excellent for you!

I am an industry professional running my own business... I have to support myself, thus the need to ask if payment was involved.

Its quite simple. I work to be paid, so I can have money to live.

I'm glad some of the members here have common sense and tact! Its a shame most of the mods don't.

I'm pretty coool too our kid......and pay myself as well....as a musician i always and have always been asked to play at charity gigs and to 'do it for nothing' ...cos 'you enjoy it dont you' ....etc etc .....I've done so many things for nothing so far in my life and these days it gets right on my nerves if I'm expected to do a freebie for anyone. Well perhaps they can pay my rent instead that week?...or my leccie bill?...am playing a charity do at a very prestigious hotel next week...£500 a very good payer for a charity gig..its about bloody time too!

I think the way you put it came accross badly thats why so many people jumped on it....dont be stubborn now (see, i'm coming accross wrong now!!) just see how it could'ave offended people, whom without giving their free time there would be no zclub or forum. Simple.

Like me you run your own bussiness so do the sums and see wots left over after the magazine production etc...I used to work for a few mags and believe me thats where most / all of the subs go. (£20 x how many members per year)

I'm gonna shut up now as my hangover is kicking in and unless i hook in some work, i wont be able to put food on the table this week!.......

O my god a mod?!!. i was a punk come new waver in me day but not a mod!.though i did go see the Jam once... they were brill!!

The only way this club keeps going and has been going for so long is because of all the free time and effort that all the committee and club members have put in over the years. We run our own business as well and if you look at the statistics you would probably find a hell of alot of the members that help do and we still find the time to be on the committee run a local group print off calendars run a family and at the moment buy and renovate a house.(Not that we are blowing our own trumpet just letting you know so that you can understand the commitment that we all make to your club going.) If all the committee members insisted on being paid for all their time that they put into keeping the club going for the members then it would fold within a year as there is not enough profit made by the club to pay anyone.
So to all those members reading Russ's plea for help just think that if you still want the club to run as well as it does now and want to help to improve it for the future then just calculate and see if you can give just a little of your precious time to keeping your club going.
