Vacuum Hoses

Just a question. Does anyone know where the two rear vacuum hose pipes go to that are under the distributer? There are four of them in total but on both of the engines that I have seem the rear two have no hoses going to them at all. After looking at the Haynes manual the pictures show two rubber hoses connected to them but no info as to where they go.....
 
Cheers for the link. It seems that they are meant to go to the throttle body and somewhere behind the engine. But have to admit that they don't seem to do very much either way. The only reason I am asking is that my local garage mentioned that there are some pipes missing and these are the only ones I can think of that could be what he is talking about.

the two spare pipes are for a carbon cannister which is something to do with emission control and are not used on uk cars. I think its places like Switzerland and Sweden that use them and they can keep them too, theres enough hoses already to worry about.
