280ZX heads - definitely OK for unleaded.
1977 and 1978 260Z definitely OK for unleaded - these were the only Z models listed by Nissan as compatible when unleaded was first introduced.
1976 and earlier - a grey area. My feeling is that all Zs are probably OK for unleaded, but 240Z and earlier 260Z owners should exercise a degree of caution. Around 1974 is the critical year for the USA and towards the end of this period, the 280Z unleaded engine was being developed.

Whenever unleaded is used, attention should be paid to the octane rating in conjunction with the level of performance, ignition advance and compression that your engine runs. If in doubt use Super Unleaded or Shell Optimax.

Note that LRP has no place in a performance engine.

Thanks Mike.
