I intend this to be my Z to learn on, then soon as this is finished and I have a 300 (in about fifty million years) I intend to buy another as a long(er) term project, no holds barred. Every penny spent on this one is a penny less towards the next, although so far things have spiralled somewhat.
How much to convert me to electronic ignition then, ball park? Reasonable set up, nothing ott but no rubbish either.
One advantage was I want to fit a rev limiter, and one of those launch control (read temporary lower rev limit). I also intend to fit a Nismo crank damper, could I fire off this?
I see Lumenition do a electronic ignition kit for about £150, or one with a coil for £225.
They don't appear to do a distributorless system though, are these double the money? Seems if I'm going this far I might as well tidy the engine bay up and be rid of the dizzy?
Russ all you need is a s/hand 280 coil & dizzy from someone like pmac or malcolm yule in Scotland or anyone else who deals in bits should cost around 50/60 quid! the days of points have gone thank goodness they use to pit and then need cleaning then it would misfire so you would buy a new condensor and new points and get the feeler guage out and line the timing marks up and clip the ohm meter on then turn the crank till you were happy every thing was set correctly then tighten everthing up. Do you really want to p--s about with points I know I DON'T.
