A very big thanks to Steve Burns and all other people involved in organising today, a great success!!!
Good to see all the old faces of years past, and many new ones.
A bummer my car didn't make it, but it will be out very soon once problem with front brakes rectified.
On the whole, a very big

that was cool, ditto to the kudos for the organisers. being in the middle of the of that pack during the parade was an awesome experience, i doubt we'll be wanting for shots of the day for a long time. i got some cool video footage that i watched in the cab of the recovery truck on the way home. yup i was right, zeds dead, made it to the bp garage with no power steering fluid, topped it up green flag man started the car and a few seconds later the engine gave up the ghost.....but i'm not sad about this. my zed died on the track doing what it was designed to do, race...

we rocked today, every zclub member should be proud of what was achieved..

I know the feeling, importfairlady - spent the last part of today in a very nice AA vehicle with a lovely couple from Chiswick whose Saab who almost made it to Wolverhampton, but didn't quite because the car developed a very strange sound, don't you know, the same Saab I shared the flatbed my Z was being towed behind... but, despite a cr*ppy end in my case, I'll also say a huge well done to the organisers - a really superb day and I suspect we'll never know the hours that went in - many, many thanks

So sorry to see that happen to you for the second time it must be heart breaking, at least you got the fire out very quickly, look on the bright side it would of been alot worse if you did not have that system fitted. I looked in my rear view mirror & saw your bonnet on fire

Actually, poked my head in the garage this morning (hmmm, wasn't a bad dream...) and had a quick look at the damage again - no where near as bad a last time. The carbs look ok, damage looks to be melted placky bits (carb couplings, leads, distr cap), fibreglass bonnet (probably dead) and paint damage to engine bay side and bulkhead. Apart from the repairs, this has forced a real rethink of engine setup - I have my own ideas, but would welcome thoughts and suggestions from any out there with stacks more experience and knowledge than I...

By the way, thanks to all those who stopped and commiserated - appreciate it, cheers

Throttle bodies, I know it would be moving away from originality but you could call it progress as I would guess if Spike was still in the game he would be playing around with them now. Have a chat with Steve Kiddell about them.

You have open ram pipes and no heat sheild above the maniford, fuel overspilled out of carbs onto the hot manifold and up it goes,
Realy bad luck for it to go up twice have had a few heat sheilds made up and fixed in place and also wrapped the manifold to keep under the hood temps down hope you get it all sorted soon
