Thanks Moggy.
I am no longer a young enthusiast of the Z (now 51), (does that sound like a hit CD?). What I do have though is a knowledge of a 260Z I bought in the late 70's. I owned one between 78 an 83 (it was a '74) and covered over 60,000 miles. Even then the cars rotted like cabbage. My own never actually let me down but seemed always to have a problem (sorry to dissolusion you folk who seem to think these machines were infallable). Real wheel bearings just disintigrated. Gearbox roller bearings were costly. The carbs (hitachi) were ok even though they are now derided. Head gaskets blew often (between cylinders 4 and 5). Valves were worn & smokin at well under 100,000 ( always suprised at the claims of unburstibility). Water pumps & sender units (water & oil) were unreilable). Thermostats were poor. Hoses became brittle early and need ed renewal. (the difficult ones were fixed to the heater unit). The radiator always leaked (temporarily fixed with Araldite!). Most nuts were very soft metal (became round with little effort). Doors dropped on their hinges. Clutch pedals squeaked! The cluch servo was always a point of leakage. The choke cable mechanism easily broke from its mounting! Fuel sender units were inaccurate. Steering components were very 'ify'y). Generally not good cars.
That said, I have bought another! Am straight in to problems! They are though quite unique. if only to drain huge amounts from your bank account!
I like mine!
