Hey folks,

I didn't see this posted yet so I thought I'd put it up here myself ...

Retro Rides Gathering 2012
Sunday 19th August

Prescott Hill Climb
Gotherington,
Cheltenham,
Glos. GL52 9RD

All that good stuff that people have come to expect from Retro Rides Gathering events, Club stands, RWYB hill climb action, phenomenal Guest cars, Traders, Retro Parking (for those not clubbing it).

All for the princely sum of £10 on the day (or £7.50 in advance)... or if you are feeling fruity there are still weekend camping tickets available at £25 with camping from the Friday.

Check out the site for more info : Retro Rides Gathering 2012 - 19th August, Prescott .. and a video!

Of particular interest to Z-Club members would probably be the attendance of Alan Thomas and his fantastic KPGC10 GT-R, with that delightful S20 engine making lovely noises as it heads up the hill.

Would love to see a Z-Club stand, my own car will be on the Datsun stand ;)

Looks like a great event. I'll try and fit it into my calender. Thanks for posting.

haha good luck conflicts with northweald. I wanted to goto this last year and would really like to attend especially with Alan's GTR being there this year. Also fancy doing the RWYB hillclimb oh so many choices.

Isn't Northweald on the 19th a test and tune day? Come give The Gathering a go, I promise you won't be disappointed :D ... also RWYB with corners, whats not to like!? ;)

19th August at North Weald is Round 7 of The Z Club Drag Challenge with a Z specific Elimination round...

Damn :( ... we try to avoid clashing with stuff,.. and stuff tries to avoid clashing with us now days, but we're bound to clash with something, shame it is one of your Championship rounds :(

it's a shame as I was keen on this but the drag challenge comes first hopefully next year it will not conflict.

Absolutely cracking day, not sure what happened to the supra powered Z, hope you got it fixed.
Good to meet you all. Cheers nick

This was a superb day out and a great event to take part in. Managed 2 runs before the car decided not to play anymore. I made the choice to use NOS on the second run to give me a bit more pull out of the bends, rather than change down. When I came back into the pits the car just died when I touched the throttle and was very hard to restart. When it did start it would tike over ok but a soon as your got it to rev you would get loads of white smoke out the back and the engine would die. Striped the coil packs off and checked the plugs all in good condition (not melted any :) ) but show very rich. Turned out to be a fuel solenoid for the NOS stuck open( thanks Tel) so I disconnected its fuel line and blanked it off. Car still behaved the same though with loads of white smoke it you use too much throttle or load. I didn't fancy another trip home with the AA so we thought we would try and drive home, only 147 miles! Anyway, it proved pretty tricky to drive in a hilly area with no throttle or load on the engine. At one point we had a long line of car behind as I tried to limp up a long hill in first gear. After a while you get used to what you can and can't do a try to keep the speed up as much as possible to help climb the hill. Once on the main roads it wasn't too bad. After about 70 or so miles I found I could gradually use a bit more throttle and by the time we got nearly home to car was back to normal. Terry had suggested it may improve as the intercooler was probably full of petrol and it look like he was right. Thanks Tel and Darren for sticking with for the long trip home.

Looks like the the old girl lives to fight another day.

Nearly forgot, Alan, your car is superb. Good to talk to you Nick, and everyone else who came over to look at the car and say hello.

Yes it was a great day out was nice to drive the zed after so many months being tinkered with. Alan's GTR was also stunning we will have to do this again next year.
