replacement parts

Does anyone maintain a list of parts from other datsun models or other manufacturers that:

a. can replace 240z parts that are difficult and/or expensive to acquire e.g. bumpers and radiators
b. can improve the performance of the original parts e.g. brakes, headlights and windscreen wipers

Ditto for 260parts
in particular brake pads - I heard once that Ford Capri pads would fit

Take that as a big fat zero then !!!!

All I can say is -
You can utilise a 2+2 chrome rear bumper on a 2 seater.
Zed's have the same wheel stud pattern as early Toyota Celica's (before they went front wheel drive) and Supra's (up to 1985). Oh, and Scimiters too.

Thats all I can think of. Not much help I know.

Hi,

The modern 4 row radiators are far more efficient than the early Z. These are available from some of the Z parts suppliers such as MotorSport Auto in the US. The 4 pot caliper brakes from a Toyota Hilux are a direct swap for the pathetic brakes on the 240. The difference is amazing. For the gearbox and diff, it seems to be best to go for one from a non-turbo 280ZX.

Sadly the supply of 4 row radiators from Motorsport Auto has stopped (temporary I hope) as the company that makes them has some sort of problem (unspecified...).

Interestingly, Motorsport (and therefore MJP) can now offer a complete kit of new parts to convert '70-'78 Z models to 4-piston brake calipers using the original discs - 2 x calipers, pads, all necessary hardware and two new front brake lines for £299.95 + VAT. 01277 374201.

While you can actually fit a 2+2 rear bumper to a 2 seater the end result is somewhatless than satisfactory( my opinion- not a fact). the centre section of a 2+2 bumper is almost half an inch longer than its 2 seater counter part and as a result the corner pieces dont fit properly. the gaps are wrong. Also the 240Z corners and the 260Z corners mount by different brackets.
I can confirm that toyota Hilux calipers are spot on. I think we have covered this in an earlier discussion guys??
I have a firm local to me who will do a four core rad jobfor a 240Z on an existing rad provided the sides and the header tanks are re usable.
Just fitted one to mine. Superb job. But dont take my word for it, ask Steve Lack. He's got one too.
Also 280Zx front strut inserts fit a 240Z tube they just need a packing washer as they are a little shorter.
