Price on Nissan Japan versus prospec-ms

Having just looked at the admittedly limited info on the 350 on the English part of the Japanese Nissan website:
it strikes me that there's some disparity between the yen price quoted here of 3.5 million (that translates to 20'ish grand) and the price of an imported one from prospec (see Steve Burns post on their offer of 36-40k). What's that all about then?

Does it really cost that much to import and certify a new motor? Is it the VAT/Car Tax?

On the plus side, though, they talking about delivery this year ... sound tempting? I think so.

Hi John Boy
It was not me who posted the 36/40k price tag it was Mike Feeney but nice of you to think that my Z Knowledge is on a par with the bearded one, are you after some form of discounted membership <img src="http://www.zclub.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':p'> &nbsp;<img src="http://www.zclub.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':p'> &nbsp;<img src="http://www.zclub.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':p'>

Yes,

Very good, Steve ... apologies for the mis-quote.

As it happens, I'm fully paid up for the time being, but if getting a discount can be achieved by a bit of random flattery, let me know. At renewal time, I can assure you I'll be full of it!

Still doesn't help me with the dilemma of how to best approach the problem of obtaining a 350z as soon as possible. After all, I need one!

Cheers,
John. <img src="http://www.zclub.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':D'>
