Model names and engine sizes?

Hallo ladies and gents,

there's a small argy going on amongst the other lot about why 300ZX, 350ZX and so on. Now I always thought this was related to engine size so I read the 300ZX Enthusiasts companion and did some guessing to come up with:
240Z had a 2.4l engine straight 6 carbs
260Z = 2.6l straight 6 carbs
280Z = 2.8l straight 6 fuel inj
280ZX = 2.8l straight 6 fuel inj (same engine and trans as 280Z but new everything else) and later a turbo
300ZX (Z31) = 3l V6 na & turbo
300ZX (Z32) = 3l V6 na & tt
350Z = 3.5l V6 na

does this extend to the 200s / Silvias? eg:
180SX is 1.8?
200SX is 2.0?
240SX (US model) is 2.4 I thought I read somewhere?

Is this right or just the fevered ravings of an overstretched mind?

.......except S13 200SX is 1.8 and S14 200SX is 2.0, both with turbo. 240SX is normally aspirated.......

And Trev has pointed out that there was
Fairlady 200ZR with RB20DET straight 6 DOHC 24valve turbo.
This came as ZR-1 (coupe 2+2) and ZR-11 (targa 2str).

If we are going worldwide with our definitions, then there are L20 (2.0litre) versions of Fairlady Zs (69-78) and ZXs (79-83), L20 turbo versions of the Fairlady ZX (79-83) and VG20T versions of the Z31 (83-89) And what about the Fairlady Z432 2.0litre twin overhead cam PS30 model Z (69-73) from Japan?

However, none of these were officially called 240Z, 260Z, 280ZX or 300ZX, only Fairlady Z or Fairlady ZX, so our discussion on relation of model name to engine size doesn't really apply! Only the S13 200SX fails to comply.

OK Bearded One, you have crossed the line here! &nbsp;First thing to say is you are right with your comment that the 200SX does not comply! &nbsp;It certainly doesnt!! You were around in 95/96 when the club had the discussion about the 200SX and as you know the 200sx lost the vote!! So NO 200s in the Z Club. The only thing the 200SX complies with is the fact that it iscontained in the list of HDCs!!
