Membership - options and club in general

No, I'm not stirring, no, I've no axe to grind : feel free to discuss or ignore !

I'm letting my membership run 'til next time and then review because I (personally) no longer want to share my thoughts, advice, offers of parts or where to get them with non club-members that are swamping this club.

I joined the Club BEFORE I had a Z to help me, I suppose at that time (1989) that was the only way to be in with the crowd, be accepted and invited to meetings (well, to even hear of them probably) and also with a clear concience, pick the brains of those with more experience and be part of something to promote the cars !

Too many people coming on here now asking this and that (research option always available but frequently ignored), full of enthusiasm for their new cars and good on you chaps BUT I strongly feel that without membership funds, this is all gonna go downhill and you'll lose this site as probably the best UK (if not English language) source of local info.

Join the club I say - pay your dues and feel that you've earnt the right to pump for info.

But what about those from abroad who don't reap all the possible benefits that those UK residents obtain ?

Here, the Club needs to have either a two-tiered fee for non UK residents OR a simple online membership fee that gives free those benefits currently enjoyed by UK residents !

I'ves asked for my past messages and threads to be removed as I feel :

a) no-one is consulting them and
b) I no longer want to assist freebies

But my request was refused - ok, never mind.

I'll still be a part of this club but only if it becomes a club again of active and participating members and participating doesn't just mean posting - it means joining - THAT committment is as important as buying the car.

It's not obligatory - of course one can own a Z and ignore this club...........just don't come on asking for advice time after time.

Not directed at any one person - just the trend.

For those members that are trying to sell parts and only a non member is interested but can not read the ad cos they are not a member when it first comes out,the member loses a sale, catch mt drift,if a non member has broken down would you drive past him if you knew he wasnt a member, can see wot you are getting at Sean baby but its only an interner car forum,

Plenty of car forums are free and offer much more advice than this one. However, most, if not all are not classic car clubs.

I didn't become a member for information (most on here arn't really interested to help from what I have found anyway, a select few however do offer some sound advice) and I didn't become a member to use the classifieds - infact the only thing on there I have enquired about the seller never even got back in touch with me.

I have become a member because I wanted the sticker........and the opportunity to take place in meets such as the drag challenge.
