Leaking Petrol Tank

Can anyone help me. My 1992 300zx is leaking petrol through a hole in the bottom of the tank. The garage I took it to is quoting 1 month lead time to get a new tank. Are there any specialists in Edinburgh (or for that matter Scotland) that might be able to fix this problem any quicker.

The wife has been trying to get me to sell the car, and this might be the last nail in the coffin.

All help and suggestions appreciated.

Have you tried asking the guys on www.300zx.co.uk , there is often a couple of people breaking 300s on there.

What he said!!
Just look on the for sale section
or there are two approved breakers who are in the Traders section.
AndyZ and Rice Rocket.
Both Andy and David are experienced breakers who will be able to courier a s/h tank up to you.
Best to PHONE them as neither has enough time to be looking on the forum for enquiries
Also Ken at ZXcess on this forum may have one.PM me for Kens number.

Wouldn't a second hand tank be dangerous to send by courier?... with flammable gasses possibly still present!
 
Most reputable breakers will purge a used tank before doing anything with it, shipping etc. Actually it's a legal requirment through H&SE.:cool:

Sounds boring!...Every other car on the road is a 3 series bmw!....They're as ubiquitous as the Sierra or Mondeo/Vectra used to be!

There is also a company that will recondition the tank encasing it inside and out in a special epoxy. I think from memory they are in Blackpool, the name of the company escapes me unfortunately.

You could also Fiberglass over the hole and get a kit from Frost Restoations to seal the tank from the inside. I did this on my 240z tank and so far it has worked very well. It will take best part of a week to sort with the messing around you need to do but probably the chepest way of doing it.
