Kaminari update

I'm going to post some pics in the gallery(should put the cat amongst the pigeons:devil: )

progress has been slow as i've been busy on customers work(bloody annoying, but pays the bills), also waiting to move into a MUCH bigger workshop.

so. decided to clear the work schedule for 2 weeks to get the car finished(also spend some time with jnr, as its the school hols)
week 1 went well, with a lot of the final moulding/fettling of bodywork sorted, then an episode with my zzr1100, a wet road & some diesel put me in hosp for a few days & i'm NOT supposed to do any "work" for 2 weeks other than gentle exercise.
ever get the feeling some-one up there's got it in for you?
so its 3/4 done, needs the re-spray finishing(more artwork, as it keeps developing-should have it all done by end of week-but dont quote me on that)

mechanically, it needs an exhaust system, the turbo fitted, brakes overhauled, clock, oil, temp gauges fitting, the switches for the turbo installing(havent got a clue about those)trim re-fitted, so expect it out & about next spring:D
the paintjob has gone from a mild chameleon(mostly black, with a blue-green "flip" to what you see in the gallery-a bit OTT for my liking, but its got to be a working car as much as a toy, hence the artwork-should drum up some trade for the "custom" side of my business.
let me know if i need to hang my head in shame, & leave the forum:(
dave.

Absolutely not mate, that is a seriously good paint job, the design doesn't 'float my boat' but that doesn't mean I can't recognise and appreciate the bloody hard work that's gone into it.

Don't suppose you'd be interested in a minor touch up job I need doing :D :D :D

Well done m8 and keep it up.

Take care on the roads m8 and remember what I was told when I passed me test (too many years ago) "every other driver is a flamin' idiot"

Wicked art work dave, sorry to hear of your misfortune hope alls well soon, keep up the good work and see you at billing next year :D

Hehehe cool... reminds me of the scary samuri in Bruce Lees dreams! :D Well in the movie, I can't read minds! Yet! ;)

Cool paint job, when will you bring it to a show? :)

Mark, i intend to use the car as much as poss when its finally finished, also get it around the club meets when & where its practical.
you wont miss it, thats certain:D

Hi,
Nice one!....It may not be everyone's cup of tea, but it will certainly get noticed!
You shouldn't fail to get your car in some of the Classic, Custom or Japanese magazines with that paint work!
It should help raise the profile of the 280ZX model too!
Don't forget to mention the Z Club!;)
Cheerz,
JEZ

Excellent Paint Job good to see some airbrush work as most people seems to use stick on graphics these days I might be after some graphic work for my Z31 once I have fitted the Body Kit..
Once again top job well done..

Top skills mate! I am impressed. I'll know who to contact in future!

Sorry to hear about your ZZR, hope she is ok.

its only a 2.0 pixel camera m8,
how close do you want?
i'll see if i can get some more, but it aint going to be full detail shots.
if your looking for orange peel , there's none:D :D

Bloody hell! Tob job fella!!

Purely for reference (mine's black and it's gonna stay black!), what sort of price would you be looking at to do something similar for a Joe Schmoe customer?!!

Cheers,
Rob

Obviously you'd get a club discount! ;)

Rob,
joe would be expected to pay around £2000 for all the artwork(the bonnet alone would come out at about £1000)
its not exactly hard in a technical sense, more time consuming. the bonnet took about a week, while the rising sun on the doors/rear quarters were done over a 4 day period.
the car is also having a chameleon base, which is around £200 per litre.
as i said before, the original idea was to have sammy on the bonnet, but it kinda grew from there.
my "main" business is bike paintwork, but i've done some resto work in the past (& have a nice 2 seaterZX in at the moment for some bodywork & re-paint) & want to get back into restoration & modifying stuff-repairing crashed bikes back to standard is pretty boring & i like to get my teeth into "interesting" stuff.(i spent a happy 2 hours tonight with some nitromors on the ZX resto :D )

theres a whole new breed of "chav" up here with loads of money to spend on bodykits & artwork-& its not seasonal work either, hence the move to a much bigger workshop.
i'd be happy to give club members a decent discount, on any type of paintjob.
trouble is , i'm up here, & you lot are mostly down there:)
