Are there any Z members spectating the JCMR this year?

After looking at the entylists,International,National & Rievers Rally's entry lists there is not one Datsun competing, last year there was four 240z,s,,,,,,where are you guys?
This year there is no mention of Historic Rally however there are other cars as old as the Datsun's competing.
:) :)

The Jim Clark Memorial Rally is not in the British Historic Rally Championship this year.

It is a very well known event with excellent stages but both the historic competitors and the organisers of the BHRC felt that they were treated as 2nd or even 3rd class citizens by the rally organisers last year. This was a shame as it led to the rally being dropped from the calendar, hence only a couple of historic cars and no 240Z's.

We are thinner on the ground in the BHRC this year. Mike Collins has sold his Z & we have not seen Tony Fall or Duncan Pearcey this year at all.

I believe that Dominic Frattaroli will be flying the Z flag at all of the rounds but Debby & I can only afford to do 4 or 5 rounds out of the 9, especially in the year when our daughter is getting married! Graham Woodhouse did the Mutiny Rally and may come out again for the Bulldog Rally in late October.

We plan to be out again on the Trackrod Rally Yorkshire on the first weekend in October. It is based in Malton, service area in Pickering, stages mostly in the Dalby Forest. See you there?

Now if someone would like to sponsor our rallying efforts........!

Hugh: Good question. The car is currently just a shell which should be finished as far as strengthening/seam welding is concerned in about a month or so. Then there's painting/ wiring/suspension/ engine/gearbox etc.....etc. You know the score. Anyway, it won't be this year so hopefully for the start of next season.

To be honest I doubt if the Jim Clark will be in the BHRC next year because of the way we were treated in 2003. That does not mean that they cannot run a historic section of the event, regardless of the Historic Championship, but the way to get a good historic entry is to be in the Championship.

We were made very welcome by the locals last year and the stages, closed public roads, were great to drive but the organisers were clearly only interested in the big boys of the British Rally Championship.

This year's Jim Clark looks to have a much better layout to it, starting & finishing in Kelso rather than Edinburgh, but using basically the same stages. A much more compact event.

Eventually, it is hoped that the Historic Championship will become big enough to have "stand alone" Historic events and this is the way the MSA's rally revue felt things should go. However, we do not have the numbers yet. Even adding in the "Classics" (1975 - 1981 non-turbo 2WD cars) has not brought enough entries to run stand alone events.

The best attended rally of the calendar is the Robin Hood in Nottinghamshire in March with about 100 Historics, Post Historics & Classics but they still need to add a modern "Clubmans' Rally" to boost the numbers and make the event viable.

It is hoped that the Mid Wales will go the same way. This year was its first time in the BHRC and entries were down a bit because of that and because it was only 3 weeks after the very rough Mutiny Rally.

Our class C4 in the Post Historics is growing this year, but growing 911's. It would be great to have some more Z's joining in the fun and showing what good rally cars they are. If we can get to the finish, anyone can!
