To be honest I doubt if the Jim Clark will be in the BHRC next year because of the way we were treated in 2003. That does not mean that they cannot run a historic section of the event, regardless of the Historic Championship, but the way to get a good historic entry is to be in the Championship.
We were made very welcome by the locals last year and the stages, closed public roads, were great to drive but the organisers were clearly only interested in the big boys of the British Rally Championship.
This year's Jim Clark looks to have a much better layout to it, starting & finishing in Kelso rather than Edinburgh, but using basically the same stages. A much more compact event.
Eventually, it is hoped that the Historic Championship will become big enough to have "stand alone" Historic events and this is the way the MSA's rally revue felt things should go. However, we do not have the numbers yet. Even adding in the "Classics" (1975 - 1981 non-turbo 2WD cars) has not brought enough entries to run stand alone events.
The best attended rally of the calendar is the Robin Hood in Nottinghamshire in March with about 100 Historics, Post Historics & Classics but they still need to add a modern "Clubmans' Rally" to boost the numbers and make the event viable.
It is hoped that the Mid Wales will go the same way. This year was its first time in the BHRC and entries were down a bit because of that and because it was only 3 weeks after the very rough Mutiny Rally.
Our class C4 in the Post Historics is growing this year, but growing 911's. It would be great to have some more Z's joining in the fun and showing what good rally cars they are. If we can get to the finish, anyone can!
