Took it out of the heater system, it was attached to the button that regulates the speed the fan is blowing.
Dont know if that is explained correctly in English but that is how i would explain it in Dutch :)

Looks like a bunch of resistors, in which case I shouldn't think there is much that can go wrong with it.

The part is called a rheostat and the easy way to check its functioning ok is, are all your fan speeds working?, if they are its ok :)

But how can i test if this is the broken part or it may be the switch itself? the car has been standing in a garage for 11 years,..
Is this part or a replacement still available new?

Can't find any test procedures for the unit - it contains transistors as well as the various rheostats. Nissan describe it as a blower amplifier. Available new for 280ZX, ex-Japan, £170.86 + VAT .
Good secondhand swap might be the order of the day!

well i found out it wasnt this that was broken..
it was one of the plugs between the heater valve and the blower motor.

somebody told me the blower will alwasy work on its highest speed, even if the blower amplifier is broken.
so it had to be something else since the blower motor wasnt working on any speed.

170 pounds seems a bit expensive..
