I have a dream....Z Technical Weekends

I got this idea from another car club i am a member of.

They hold technical weekends once a month, they are designed to be hands on events where owners are encouraged to learn maintenace and repair jobs with expert tuition. Each weekend there is a number of expert tutors who give up their time freely.

Jobs tacked range from routine service to tune up. It is also a good idea for members to meet experts who can help maintain their vehicles. Thus also becoming a showcase for Z traders.

Many of the tutors can be full time Z mechanics or retired ones who are happy to pass on the knowledge.

Lunchtime and evenings everyone gets together for a chat about the days events making it a highly sociable affair.

What do you all think? It is just an idea....!

I can see that the most mechanically minded will probably not be interested.

Sounds a good idea, I could use some mech knowledge, and a free tune up sounds cool too.

I think it's a good idea, certainly, whether there'd be enough take up though I don't know. We are a pretty small and spread out club :( However I still think it's a good idea, nice if it worked out.

From that idea why don't we find someone with video cam and basic pc editing package and make mini web video guides that members can download from the site? Just 5 minute how tos.

I have a dream..
Yup! Its a dream for sure.:D
Although on a worst case scenario it could be a nightmare...EG one 240Z owner, one 260Z owner, one 280ZX owner....and so on.. turns up....:D

I dreamt that people would turn up in their masses:confused:

But then Im known as being an unrealistic person:)

Along a similar line we could make short video buyers guides for each Z model...featuring an example of each model!...with perhaps some driving impressions too!
These could be sold through the site or shop!

sorry to put a downer on the subject, but we cant even get a written archive together let alone a video section, PMAC, unrealistic.....surely not! start when the wheel was made and then move on very very slowly, vids come in about 5 years time.

That would be good as it would be the L Series weekend and a lot of the technical information is relevant to all those models.

Other weekends could cater for Z32 owners and others for Z31 and 350Z .

Dj, dont be silly man, most of the zclub members are still on betamax.:D and im still trying to work out how to use mine.

George, I hate to tell you mate but I was being sarcastic(again!) in my reply.
What I was trying to say was we could have just 6 people turn up and each one with a different car(240 thru to 350Z) so nobody would agree on anything(as usual in the Z Club)
But thinking about it again even getting 6 people is totally unrealistic!!!:p

Maybe some classes on how to tow a caravan/trailer tent and how to pitch a tent in a meadow might attract a few more people??
