How to idea...?

I was thinking lastnight that we need a "How To" section on the website...

Split into the usual car categories...

Everything from changing the oil, updating the brakes... all the usual things you need to do with your car, and maybe some more advanced things...

We all have to do these jobs now and again, so if you have a digital camera, it'd add an extra 5 minutes to take a few snaps then post how you did that job in the forum.

Then if someone doesn't know how to do something, we have a visual representation of how to do every job out there! :)

Whaddaya think? :)

As a mechanical moron I will only tackle jobs that I have good advice on. I bought the Haynes  (Every book based on a strip down and rebuild !!!), so any advice/help/assistance from people would be greatly appreciated from me.

Ok... so whos actually going to do it then? :D

Less talk more action fellas :D
well theres the rub
no use me doing it as the sum of my technical ability is to pay some one to do
example of my knowledge is when I couldn't start my 280 once called out the AA man and after him having a poke about under the engine he asked if the car was in park and when I looked it was in drive
both of us fell on the floor laughing

Yeh I want detailed descriptions of how to fix that one Steve with pictures, diagrams, everything :)

Well we have a basic articles section which is down on the list to improve, and we can get the articles up, but who is going to write one. Not I, far too busy as it is and don't have a Z. I can show you how to change the front brake pads on a Vauxhall Omega in a week or so if thats any help lol.

Great idea,

I don't mind documenting my Z31 N/A Auto to Turbo Manual swap. This might not be much use to many people but it will include 'turbo upgrades' ( I'm using a T3/T4 hybrid ), 'Intercooling', MegaSquirt EFI, performance clutch and flywheel choices and everything else!
I was going to document it for myself anyway & I could easily post it...
You'll have to wait until it's finish though.

Sounds great Matt more people then you think would be interested, I am definately going to benefit from reading your info on T3/T4 upgrage, intercooling, megasquirt (I am thinking of Emerald)

Please go ahead and write it!!:)

Matt: It'd be more interesting to people than you think, people all over the world will bump into it, not just here, and there are a lot of auto Z31s out there!

Cool, I'll do it for sure, even if the 'How to' forum doesn't come off I'll post it in the Z31 forum.
Might no be for a while unless you want a work in progress style thread.

Sorry MrG240Z, I don't know what 'Emerald' is about, is it another DIY EFI?

Matt, Emerald is an ECU, it's not a DIY system like megasquirt but one that is off the shelf, customised to your needs and setup on a rolling road. Skiddel on this forum has an Emerald system in his 240Z with L28 and he is very happy. In comparison to other systems their prices are pretty reasonable.
