Hi, I've recently expanded my garage space and so finally have the opportunity to add a well overdue 240z to my collection.

I've welded up many a rotten car in the past and its a tiresome process. I'm tempted by a rot free LHD import to convert to RHD.

I've been looking on eBay and other sites trying to get a feeling for the going rate for such a car. I'm looking for a mostly complete car that just needs a lot of work to get it back looking and driving well. I wondered if someone could give me a ballpark figure that I'd be looking to pay for that sort of thing?

Also out of curiosity, how does a conversion affect the value of a car if a UK car in identical condition was compared?

Be aware that every LHD car that comes across isn't rust free. you could argue there's no such thing. I think the very best examples are £9kish, even those will need some work, although no way near 99% of original UK cars. I don't think having a lhd shell with a rhd conversion affects its price against an 'original' UK car at the minute, just its originality. Better to convert a LHD car to RHD but keep the original VIN also, well at least its above board and legal.

I think Franky means £9k will get you a decent road worthy lhd 240z. Not sure 'the very best example' was the right choice of words.
For that price you'll get a car with either original faded paint ,if lucky,or more often a very poor typical yank blow over.
Either way its a full strip and respray if its a nice example your wanting to restore too.
Rear hatch slam panel and rear dog leg sill areas still an issue even on some of the best of the dry state cars, so have a good nosey and take your time in buying the right car.
