Help! Need to buy an engine 240z!

Hi, so as many of you may have seen my 240z has been up for sale for a while now, It's not original etc and although I have had lots of interest it has all been with regards to taking a part exchange.

Well today I had two people come to view the car, the second person who was on his way from 200 miles away had allready seen the car at santa pod and was bringing the cash with him and although nothing is ever guaranteed I would have said it was about as guaranteed as it could have been.

Any how I had taken the car out for a run as I had just fitted a new battery topped up the oil etc and as I had not ran her for a month I wanted to make sure there was nothing wrong before handing it over to some 1 else for a test drive. I have done well over 2000 miles this year in her and had no issues since fitting the new rad.

Any how as I am driving up the hill the bottom end decides to fall apart. Popped a spark plug out to see it had been bashed flat,

Does any one have a bottom end for sale or could any 1 give an advice on repairs etc? I am seriously worried about the cost of this as I have just spent several ££££ putting a new rotary engine in my rx7. I can take the car to a local mechanic who can do the work but I am in Sheffield and I know finding these bits might be hard!

My other option would be to just stick her on ebay as a project and take a rather big loss. I didn't even want to sell her in the 1st place it was kind of a needs must in the end for the new business. Thanks

I would remove engine and strip it down. Grind the crank and use oversized bearings. Worst case might need a con rod but I'm sure one if them isent too bad to find

Well if the only reason you can't sell a car is because the bottom ends gone, yes in the scheme of things its not much to repair or if the its not the original engine just replace.

Hi, Guys thanks for the replies. Yes I could possibly trailer her to doncaster. It's a 240z and I believe the original engine and yes the bottom end, took the top off to see no damage then once I popped out the spark plugs I found one had been beaten flat. The chain is still spinning so I assume the rod is ok and could just be a valve.

Do you have a number Mikey Bean? Thanks

I have a complete engine if you want it - not sure how good it is as it hasn't been run since 1983 but I can get it to turn over if you want it?

I guess you can check your v5/engine plate etc? There 'might' be some value in keeping the original block however that depends on the rest of the car, only you'll know that.

Plenty of used 240z engines around so it shouldn't be too drastic at all. Good luck with sorting it out.
