Good day gentlemen, looking for help for right hand drive parts.
Let me give some background, Son and I bought a 1979 Fairlady 280z imported to the states from Japan back in 89. We picked it up a few months ago in fair shape, car has been sitting for in covered storage for the past 7 years. The Fairlady is right hand drive, has the outside rear view mirrors on the fenders and something not seen everyday over here. So we want to get the "lady" on the road again.
After also picking up a "parts car" (82 280zx that was crashed) and removing the engine, tranny, R200 dif, all the relays, most of the switches, complete wire harness, fuel tank and pump, right side door, hood (bonnett?) and rear hatch (boot?) she got scraped.
So now, we are geting into the Fairlady, we might have a bad headlight switch, thing is, all the ones over here are on the left of the steering wheel, we need one for the right side, any help?
Another thing, there is rust on the cowel, between the vents and the lower windsheild (windscreen?) from the drivers side wiper opening over past the passengers wiper opening. I did cut out that part of the parts car, but just like all cars over here, it's set up for left hand drive, so the wiper opening are way off. I know I can do some creative metal work / welding, but thought I could get some help from the RHD folks. Also have rust through right behind the power brake booster, see pics below.
Might there be a chance some one can cut that whole cowel area out of a old 280zx? need to look at shipping and see if it's worth it.
Off topic question, is it bad if my sons and I are fans of Top Gear?, the UK one, not the dumb American one. I also love to watch Wheeler Dealers, is that bad? Oh yea, also been watching Dr Who since I was a teenager, well, off and on.
thanks for any help and thoughts gents'
