Im starting to collect heads so I thought I’d provide some pictures and info on the modified ones I have just acquired.

The 2 in the picture were either use on or prepped for big Sam. One is a welded p90 with beryllium seats, titanium 46.5/35mm valves, heavy skim and ported. The other is e30 with chamber cleanup, enlarged ports, 46/35 valves.

They were both supplied by myself to Tim Riley, who carried out all the modifications on them. Tim built a couple of different engine configurations for Big Sam whilst it was in the ownership of Nick Howell.

I think one of the rentadrivers at JD Classics blew an engine up and the good parts got thrown out with the bath water?

Alan - You probably know a lot more than I do about all the parts I bought that were left over from the sale of big sam. There are lots of parts and most prepped ready to build another engine for the car. Prepared block, crank, rods, bearings, sump, pistons, head, ect. The plan is to build the engine once the current one is done (funds allowing).

Jon - I haven't measured the chambers yet but it does look small.

I don't know what parts were used/discarded during its tenure with JD Classics, but I helped Tim source a lot of parts from Japan for his work on the car. Hard to tell what's what all these years later but I might recognise a few bits.

Tim Riley's work was always top notch and really well thought through/executed. It really bugged me when I saw JD Classics taking credit for work that was nothing to do with them, and writing off good work as 'junk' when it had been one of their two bob rentadrivers selecting second gear instead of fourth that did the damage...
