Google Chrome Browser

Hi,
Can anyone explain why this site is not available using the above? All I get is the message:-
"Dear Website-Visitor,
the Google-Browser CHROME is not allowed on this site.
Please use any alternative browser and come back.
Thanks :)4294967295"

Now that is particularly unhelpful as I am testing Google Wave in Internet Explorer. Google Wave needs an Google frame add in for Internet Explorer (IE) 6, 7 and 8 that makes IE present itself as Google Chrome and with it installed I can't get on the site (I get the above message) :(.

OK so I can uninstall the Google Frame thingy (which is what I've done to get on here) and reinstall every time I want to test Google wave with IE. Not really on is it?

OK Rant over but I'd appreciate it being looked into.

It was deliberately blocked from this site because of Chrome's 'security vulnerabilities'. Whether those vulnerabilities are still present or not, I don't know.

Google Chrome has had any vulnerabilities very quickly patched. Even the google Chome frame for IE was last patched on the 20th November and this was in conjuction with Microsoft. I would have thought it was as safe as any other browser now.

Well according to them, they're are NOT responsible for the Black Screen Of Death that users are suffering with after the latest updates.

Of course they're not!

Yes, The post on the black screen of death has now been withdrawn and has been attributed to Prevx
As Chrome is based on Firefox is the denial of Chome serices warrented?
What damage can be caused to this site

Why on earth would you want to use Google Chrome? It's based on the old Netscape and not Firefox. If you want something based on Firefox, use Firefox. It's slowly catching up to IE as far as users go. Don't be one of the utter berk sheep that seem to think that Google IS the internet. It really isn't. If you want to experience the internet in a different way (for the sake of it) use either Safari or get a copy of Linux and go geek mental.

There is no excuse for Google Chrome, patched or not. Use a decent browser if you want the internet to be what it's supposed to be. Or download 'Freenet' and check out the Dark / Deep Internet. That'll keep you going for a bit (seeing as how google only searches 0.03% of the actual full internet).

So the main reason (and in answer to your question), for Google Chrome not working, it's mainly because it's sh*t. If you want 7 year old code to faff around with then I have a book on C++ which'll keep you busy. Patching ancient barebones code in order to get some sort of vague internet experience and then worrying about security issues 'if they crop up' isn't really the way forward. This is not a dig at you or anyone who chooses 'Chrome' over a real browser. It's just that the site works. And in order to allow chrome in means compromising certain security checks. For the tiny minority, it's really not worth the gamble...

OK Read the pevious threads. Can any one please show me where the problem is. Not a say so but direct to a real research article. Cos I can't find anything.

(Andy, Note to self:-
Be prepered to be really flamed)

Without facts we'll all should not send a POSTCARD (Ref another thread)

Hey, I could get a good look at a T-Bone by sticking my head up a cow's ass but I'd rather take the butchers word for it...

I think the original thing with Chrome was google insisted on owning anything posted using it as a browser.

I'm happy to turn it back on to be honest, as the terms of agreement have now been fixed...

Russ,
Thanks and after all the debate I have caused I would like to make it clear that I am not using Chrome. I am using IE 8 with the Google Chrome Frame plugin so that I could test Google wave. That made the site think that I was using a Chrome browser.

Off topic (turning Chrome back on now), but you don't have to use Chrome for Wave do you? Pretty sure we're running it with Firefox here.

Few people run Chrome here, it's pretty fast, I don't like the interface though and like Google even less so doing my best not to support it :)

Russ,
You're right, you don't need to run Chrome to get to wave but both Firefox and IE need the plugin mentioned above.
