Front hub removal

I am currently updating the suspension setup on my car. Plus, fitting bigger brakes. Rather than bodging the brake deflectors i want to remove them properly. So i thought undo the large nut located behind the hub, then pull the hub out

Can i then removed the brake water shield by hammering off or are they welded in place?

Regards

Kev

All the workshop manual pictures regarding hub disassembly and bearing replacement show it being done with the backing plate in place! Looks as if it is a press fit to me, but I've never had occasion to try removing one...

Someone else with direct experience...?

You can very easily cut them off with a small sharp cold chisel but they will be scrap after.
