Hi All
Firstly I must apologise for not being on line in ages but been busy with life....:D
I've had a bit of a break from regular life and took a year off to spend time with my wife and try to get my house sorted (a ton of jobs that have been stacking up over the last 20 years)
Now everything is nearly sorted I'm trying to get back to my usual self of car meets, shows and road runs.. :driving:

Hence this post, I am currently in the Holiday inn Frankfurt with a view to visiting the Frankfurt motor show tomorrow... :hurray:

Obviously I will be taking the usual mixed bag of ;photos, things that catch my eye, they may not be your cup of tea but tough titty, like it or lump it....:D

right, getting messed up on red wine at the mo... but will be back soon with an update and piccys...

Life is still weighing me down a bit but found a few minutes to update this thread with a few lines and pics...

Firstly I decided to drive there as google maps said it was a 5 hour drive which it was. caught the 8:00am boat from Dover - Dunkirk which got me on the road by 11:30am French time.

The wife had just taken delivery of her new Ibiza FR, the one with the 150ps 1.4 twin charger engine.. :D
So thought.......take that to put a few miles on it for running in........;)

Frankfurt......... I knew before visiting that it is the biggest motor show in the world, so thought shall I do it over 2 days or just try and cover it all in one day..? I opted for the latter and wished I hadn't.
The exhibition centre in Frankfurt comprises about 12 halls and is huge, I think from memory the show filled 10 halls (and some halls had 2 and 3 floors) and Audi had even built their own hall in a large courtyard area which was very impressive.

I've been to a few car shows in my time but this is the first NEW car show I've been to where some of the manufacturers had an entire hall to themselves, and the budget spent on their displays must have been in
£££millions...

typically this was the German manufacturers Audi, Mercedes and BMW. Strangely VWs display was a scrimp compared to the others? perhaps they think they dont have to work so hard to sell their products, I don't know?

The Mercedes hall was huge and set over 3 galleried floors, they must of spent millions on their display and it had been designed like an IKEA store... as soon as you entered you got herded onto an escalater which took you to the top floor and then you had to work your way back down and round the gallery floors to the exit, probably an hour on its own (great if your a big Mercedes fan).
They must have had 50 cars plus on display in all colours and trim levels, every engine in cutaway to see the moving parts, merchandise, you name it.
They were making a big play on being the inventor of the motorcar.......

The show is bi-annually with Geneva and If I go again I will do it over 2 days as I missed loads doing it all in one day

For me the car of the show was the new Corvette, a really good looking car and at last it has a quality looking interior and not the usual parts bin plasticy rubbish fitted to previous models, and good value at around 60k U.K. price.

For you there was a 370z with a fairly monster install and I swear the tailpipes on the GTR get bigger with each model year.........:)

See piccy slideshow below.........:driving:
