For Sale - Offers?

I know where your coming from with this offers thing because it is interesting to see what stuff is advertised for & what it sells for. But to be honest if I see something advertised with offers & it is something I really want or need at the time I would contact the seller & strike a deal.

No worries

So all the adds asking for offers I/ we can do just that
But by that I take it they then can't decline any offer ????
As how can they .... esp if they dont know what its worth ?

Or are you also suggesting they can also decline an offer ...... as somehow they want more !!

SO STATE A PRICE THEN !!

Wyn As you may know I have many many dealings with Dave Jarman, I sell him bits & he sells me bits, but neither of us know what price to put on certain items so we barter til we are both happy with the deal & that is two guys that have been into Z's for over 20 years.

P.S. 99p start on ebay fails quite often usually on items that are quite valuable its luck of the draw, As for listing fees ebay soon take a large chunk in final value fees if something sells well.

See it from a sellers point of view.

I have a set of carbs, now they look fancy, I heard they're nice ones, I've no idea what they're worth. So in my head I say "Wouldn't mind £200, but what if they're worth more?" So do I advertise at £200, risking

a) looking like a muppet being greedy
b) far worse, letting something go nearly free

I probably wouldn't advertise them. So I put up offers, someone says £100 mate and seller thinks "nah wanted more", you've lost a whole 2 mins pming the seller. However someone might say £800 mate (knowing they're worth £1k) and both parties are very happy with their sale :)

I can't really see a bad side to offers, apart from you have to send a pm and could get rejected on your offer.

The bad side to no offers could be less adverts, people giving stuff away and later resenting it/hating the forum member who robbed them, who knows.

No you tell me you want £200 if thats what you want

Or no one else offers part from no1 ?
So you loose £100 and waste yours and their time
Or you could state a price @ £250 ono if you only wanted £200

Bad side could be you pay way ott if you're bumped up from £200 to 1k
Its not ebay :D

If you are going to ban "Offers" in an advert then you need to ban the punters who contact and make an "offer" on the price you published. The market works the way it is - leave it alone!

Indeed.;)
Can we just leave it at that,
We are never all going to agree on one course of action.
Time to move on to something more important.

Nail on the head !!
Price published = not a guessing game

No harm in making an offer when an add states an obvious asking price !
Or ono is inviting offers, but everyone has a base line rather then a guess my price game this site allows atm !

Wyn Just for example how much is an nos genuine front wing, roof skin, front inner wing, chassis leg, rear 1/4, petrol tank, Fr & Rr bumpers etc worth ? It is very hard to put a price on so many items, at the end of the day it is what someone is prepared to pay & they are usually sold for far less than when they where new , most items listed above would send most people running for the hills when they where available years ago. Same with s/h stuff now because its all running out, so if it is somehing you need make an offer to secure it before someone else does. Years ago we would all have a ruff guide on prices cos it was on the market all the time. These days a rusty drive shaft sold on ebay yesterday for £50 + postage !!! & that R180 LSD diff in Portugal sold for £690 to a guy in Portugal seems they both collect model trains also !!!!!!!

Gwyn if i had the bits then i'd get approx prices rather the take the easy option.
I may be a mile out but if I got what I assumed they may be worth then i'd be happy
No one would end an ebay auction with those bits above and let them sell at 99p start price
So even offers on there mean nowt as the seller knows full well they are worth much more
You know and i know they would get bumped up or pulled early :D
