Hi Guys I have bought a 1971 240z from theNetherlands which was sat there for 2 years previously imported from the USA,

This will be my first restoration project but I have had experience building a comp spec R33 Skyline with a Rb26 I built myself from the ground up back to bare metal cage install etc etc, I made my own roll over jig for it.

I have some pictures of the car as it sits I'm my garage,

It's been quiet with working alot of hours but the extra hours means I can start to buy parts,

My plan with the 240z is to get the engine running and then strip the car down ready for the shell dipping (6th May) and then I will have a base to start on the metalwork rust repair.
I have all the bits I need now to get the engine running as alot was missing, rad, thermostat housing, distributor internals. To name a few,

As the carbs were missing I have chosen to get triple 40 webbers, I need to fit them and figure out if they have been setup for a Z car as they are brand new and have a bag of assorted items like jets and banjo fittings etc

I have started to work on getting my 240 running I have started fitting the triple webbers which is being a pain with no instructions, and missing o rings in the soft Mount kit. I'm going to try to find a fitting guide for the 280 dizzy as I think I have it right but want to check first.

I have also found the webbers foul where the choke is and the mounts on the manifold which I'm not sure if i can get around this.

Also I need to figure out where to buy or make a throttle linkage bar which I'm missing as the car didn't come with any carbs, and I need to figure out what these are and if there needed as I think my new carbs are not setup for a l24 I think there just the standard out the box 40's without the right jets etc,

Also with fuel lines do I need to run a return line as I don't have the stardard fuel pipework and only have 2 tees in the kit I got

Where in the country are you as it may be a good idea to find a local Z friend. Linkages are generally altered to suit with triple setups or you could go cable. Do you have any of the throtle linkage from a standard zed? You will IMO need to use a fuel regulator. I have run mine with just a simple rotary regulator where to choose 2,3,or 4psi and no return without a problem.

Looking at your engine bay drawing again you have most of what you need. Just the parts that go from the baulkhead to the engine. I may have some of these.

Yeah but carbs are still on the left side of the engine so the linkage between the carbs should be the same shouldn't it?

The link you shared was this did you mean for it to be that

Has the cylinder head had any work done on it? I’m no expert but I’m not sure what value you will get from a set of triples on a standard head.
It will no doubt sound good and use lots more gas, just not sure what effect they will have on performance?

I'm going to be upgrading the engine and doing the head properly.

As the car didn't come with carbs when I bought it I didn't want to buy SUs and then buy triples later on and end up buying twice.
I'm trying to get the engine running before I strip the car right down and repair rust and rebuild the whole car.

I have a update with working away alot and long hours ive just manage to get the car running as i didnt want to start the restoration without hearing it run here is a quick video of it running quite well i think for a car thats been sat for years, i did make sure everything was oiled and not seized etc with oil down the bores before i turned it over by hand first.
