Engine is in, well almost...

Car goes up on axle stands tomorrow so I can finish the brakes/suspension and fuel system. My misses has been very understanding I've had the wiring loom all over the living room floor today and I've not heard a peep out of here.

After several hours of cursing, and having to bribe my misses to help me fit it. My RB26 is finally in the zed. Well almost its not a perfect fit it sits to high at the front and the mounts don't line up correctly so will need to do some investigating. Just thought I would wet your appetities and will post some better pictures shortly once I've got it fitted a little better.

hi ive also fitted a z32 twin turbo in my 260z if you need any help on wiring or anything maybe i can help...

Thanks Steve/Russ.

I think I have wiring sorted but will know if its all ok in the next couple of weeks when I fit it in the car. It's not as bad as it seems the RB only needs about 6-10 wires to run

Your car looks fantastic, any chance of more pictures please. sideways on etc ?

How hard has the swap been ? Any major issues you had to overcome ? I can feel a magazine piece coming on :D

A Z32 twin turbo in a 260.......... don't suppose you fancy starting a seperate thread so as not to hijack this one ? Would love to see pics and chat through the conversion etc. There are many more hybridz hiding away I am sure

These are the only side pictures I have in my gallery, I've uploaded another 4 just waiting approval.

RB swap is not that hard, the fact I'm doing it proves anybody can do it the only thing that slows the project down is money as it's not a cheap swap and my lack of experience.
I suppose the only thing thats bitten my on the arse is the dipstick tube, there is suppose to be a brass plug in the rear of the block so you can move the dipstick tube from the front to the rear when you change to the 200ZR sump so the engine will clear the x-member only I didn't so had to get Thurston Engineering near Mike's to drill me a new hole in the block.

Once I've completed the swap I'm going to document the swap and the magazine can happly write an article.

Looks awesome dude! what make of front spoiler is that? also where can I get a set of those indicators?
Cheers

What modifications have you done to get the "Wangan Midnight" looking front end ? Much work involved ?

The front spoiler is from MSA I think, I bought it through Mike so he should be able to advise exact make and price. Indicators are Japanesse spec lights which I bought from datsunrestore.com (link to lights is http://www.datsunrestore.com/photo4.html about a 1/3 down) and I've got rid of the ugly looking side indicators.

I have the same spoiler (virtually - mine was from Fourways) and the same indicators and am also taking out the ugly side indicators but had planned a full wrap around bumper with the JDM mesh grill.

I love the way yours looks - are you planning on putting a bumper on or leaving it as it is ? Looks incredibly aggressive like that.

PS - my indicators were also from datsun restore !

Quartered front bumpers would retain the agression of the intercooler while hiding the ugly bits under the headlamp cowls...

I love the front spoiler, looks so much better than the one I've got with the numberplate bit in the middle.

Cars always look better without number plates :) But where do you put one then?
